If, IF, this team continues to work together and fight hard.....and IF we make the post season....
....my promise to you ALL, is that I will SERIOUSLY consider attending an NIT home game! I rough ridin' mean it!!!!
-
nit is better than nothing
-
New board name, I guess.

Gottlieb thinks the NCAAs are still possible with the right wins.

Guess what incredibly good looking poster will be sitting next to Pete if he goes?

They are. We really only have one "bad" loss

And the league has lots of good teams, so lots of good wins are available.
In theory if they are really figuring things out, you should be able to beat most teams in this league if you can win in Norman.

Yeah I agree, but its still very hard to believe we are getting there. Tonight is the ceiling as far as how this team is able to play and we've had a lot more clunkers than we've had games like tonight.

We sat Marcus for like 20 minutes, it wasn't our ceiling. But I mean it was a road win against a top 3(?) team in the league
-
Yrah, we sat Foster, but hurt played forever and was our high scorer, or close to it. I mean, one pretty much cancels the other.

I don't know if it is about figuring things out, they've been all over the place this year, the 4 game stretch of Long Beach and Maui is indicative of that. That's why I am not at all enthusiastic about following this up because they've been like this all year, it just hasn't been a bad stretch.

The only way for this team to make the tournament is for guys like Hurt to step up like this. I mean, we need Marcus to play 35 or more minutes most nights and be really good, but the games we got from guys like Hurt, Edwards, and Thomas are going to be necessary most nights as well.
-
I do t know, FAN. I mean we scored like 60 pts tonight.

Do you even 'first to fifty' bro

This came up in another thread after the O-State loss. How many wins is realistic to make this happen? I say 18-13, 11-7 in confy would give us a fighting chance.

LBSU and Texas Southern are bad. Georgia, Tenn, and Pitt are Power 5 bad. Really only O-State/UA would count as "good" losses in my mind.
-
Probably need 20 wins (including tourney), as a general rule

He made it sound like we could with 9-9 or 10-8. We'd have to have a couple of quality road wins. Historically, the committee will give teams that have shown an ability to beat good teams away from home the benefit of the doubt.

that hasn't been an unofficial milestone in over a decade

Unofficial milestone

I wouldn't think that I would need to point out that it never was an official metric that the committee used, but with you one can never know.

I officially am aware that teams with less than 20 wins get at large bids, like 1 or 2 a year. I officially think we'd be in a much safer place at 20. I'm officially not commenting at all on whatever sassy bullshit you're whining about, and unofficially think you are a moron that likes to argue with yourself.
-
Geeze, always so salty in here. Cats got a big win tonight, enjoy it guys.
-
Do post season league tournament wins unofficially count towards the 20 wins if they are played on a Wednesday

As a general rule, yes

Those links weren't for you, they were to illustrate what our path is to make the tournament

i actually lol'd IRL. man, those yahoo chat rooms were fun, 18/M/NY

Will be interesting to see the kenpom adjustments
-
I still talk to some people from yahoo... But that's not really an appropriate discussion for a family blog
-

Didn't he project like 6 or 7 wins? To get to that number you have to win one or two of these.
-
When I went to an NIT game, most season ticket holders must not have gotten the tickets because I was over behind the 'cats bench instead of in 17. So you might end up with pretty great seats, Pete.

CBI

He was at 5 before last night's win, now at 7.

CBI or bust. Much better reputation imho
-
If the Cats somehow go 9-7 (probably 8-8) and 1-1 in KC they'll be in the NIT. 10-8 with the right wins puts us in the NCAA discussion, but probably still out (depending who we beat). 11-7 or better and we are a legit bubble team.
Our OOC was such a train wreck, if we had just turned a couple games (especially the last two at home) we'd be okay right now.
-
CBB is really bad right now if the big xii has the highest rpi. We might be able to ride that smoke and mirror show to the right side of the bubble with 8 or 9 more wins (in aggregate).
With the conference such a mush of mediocre teams, it's not hard to see us winning more than that. We just won in the house of the best team in our conference for God's sake

It's possible that you're being too pessimistic. Tough to say with any certainty until you see what the rest of the bubble looks like at the end if the year. Like FSD was saying, there's a ton of bad teams this year.

I would come say hello and exchange high-fives/ fist-bumps.

This isn't said about me too often, but probably true in this case. CBB is having an ugly season though if you like efficiency, etc.
-
I went back and checked, all of our losses (except south Texas state) have been teams with rpi's better than 75 range (pitt, tenn and lbsu), 3 are 38 or better(uga, osu, az).
Unfortunately those ~75 teams are probably doomed to drop because they are hot garbage.
-
Simple:
Did last night turn the corner?
Yes - NCAA
No - NIT / CBI
Deputy Dawg is on team oscar, last night was an incredibly big win. If nothing else, it proves that the Quatz can compete with teams that are likely elite 8.
-
How shitty is CBB if that OU team is E8?
-

Are you talking about the elite 8 of the Big 12 tournament?
-

It's really shitty
-
 at OU being an E8 team.
-
OU is a really good team, If they improve on the offensive end they will have a solid chance at being an elite 8 quality team. They miss Cameron Clark this year, but I believe they have the capacity to be more efficient on the offensive end. Tashawn Thomas is a good player.
-
OU is a good team. So does that make us lucky or a conference threat? Cats are finally getting there crap together. And it is very fun to watch teams who are projected to win by 10+ points go down by the cats. :ksu:
-
Either means we were a total wreck or extremely inconstant with a high ceiling.

I think the win makes the cats a threat to finish above .500 for the season.
