Title: Money Grubbing Lawyer and Dumbbutt Parents Ruin Sledding for Kiddos
Post by: renocat on January 05, 2015, 10:20:33 PM
Article in Hutch News stated cities in Nebraska and Iowa are banning sledding on public hills because people have successfully sued when a kid ran into a tree in Omaha.  First, parents should be held responsible for letting their kids go down a hill with trees on it - why not let them sled off a bluff.  Then the greedy grubber injury trial lawyers push for settlements that are unreasonable and are like milking a money cow with a turbo-charged high speed mechanical teat yanker.   Maybe we can put the kids in those clear bubble balls and push em down the hill or saw all of the trees down while the greenies sob and  wail that you are killing their re-re-emerged grandpa.

I haven't read the article(s), but I definitely agree with you based solely on your presentation of the facts.

Never thought Reno would be a guy to stifle the free market economy.
It is estimated tort litigation costs in US annually are passed on to consumers as a defacto tort tax at the tun $9800 for a family of four.  Think what it would mean for the economy if 50% of this was available to purchase goods.

It's not a tax, though. That money goes directly to wealthy people, and then it trickles down to everyone else.

How do you propose we get people/entities to stop acting tortiously?  Did you mean to imply that at least 50% of all tort cases do not actually involve torts and therefore can/should be eliminated?

That seems too low.
