Mrs. Stevesie60 and I have been trying to adopt for some time. We had been trying to go the cheap route but since so many fell through that way, we are now going the not-so-cheap route because it is more of a sure thing. I come here asking for your help in any way you feel inclined to help. I know this seems like it could interfere with Fattyfest, but I checked with BSAC and he said it was cool if I posted something.
Here are the details: Feb 28th at Auntie Mae's. It's an all day event, starting with a silent auction, possibly trivia, and a concert featuring The Headlight Rivals and The Carney Encore that night. (hey, that's basically the Fattyfest schedule!) I know, I love Fattyfest so much that we decided to steal the schedule.
If you have anything you'd like to donate to the silent auction, it would be much appreciated. If it's K-State related and/or you only have one of said item, please use it for Fattyfest and not for this event. If you don't have anything you want to donate but this sounds like something you'd enjoy, then clear your schedule for Feb 28th and let's hang out and have a good time!

Odell is buying a keg for the event which we will be selling for donations. I'd like something that beer connoisseurs and non-beer connoisseurs alike can all enjoy. Is the wheat the best option? Loose Leaf session ale? Perhaps 90 Schilling?

Still not sure how to do this. I went up there yesterday but it was too crazy to talk to anyone. I'm skeptical about picking something I'd send a week later because anyone could realize they'd do just as well ordering whatever they want themselves and having it shipped, as opposed to having crabs or whatever sitting there ready to be taken home by the highest bidder. I gotta come up with an item and delivery method that can only be had by bidding high at this thing.

OT: the old SIs were on a middle shelf. On the top shelf were old Playboys and some dude was going through each and every one of them with no shame at the same time I was going through each and every one of the SIs.
I think the crabs can work though. They can overnight them and they're good in that box for 48 hours, after which they just need to be cooler'd/refrigerated and are good another 4-5 days. Maybe somebody could donate a cooler and ice to this project and be responsible for receiving the crabs and transferring them to a cooler and making it look nice and that whole thing could be bid on.

I could go back and get it for you even if it's not what I send for the auction. I wasn't sure how I'd ship it without folding it up and f'n it up, but I could take it out there when I have to be in KS in April and June. It was only $10. The magazines were just $3 each; I tried finding the issue after that cardinals-royals one that I figure would be the 'ship issue, but no luck. It might've been buried in the vintage playboys.

This would be great since I will need something to occupy my time while at the fOOD.

That escalated quickly. It was going to be equally expensive to ship anything, so I sent more than I planned as weight didn't matter. 2 jumbo dungeness crabs, a dozen oysters and a pound of fresh salmon will be delivered to roidhead friday. The guys there said he should put everything that's in their box into the fridge right away and until Saturday and then make it look nice in an ice'd cooler to get it through the event. Kept refrigerated or cooler'd, the crabs and oysters will then be good through the following midweek, while the salmon will be vacuum-pack'd and can be fridge'd for a couple months or frozen for a year. Of course, the crabs and oysters will be cleaned, cooked and ready to be eaten right there as soon as somebody wins them.
If there won't be anybody to compete with Gooch to get the whole thing up to at least $200, maybe split it up into separate items however seems right so that this will have made more sense than me just giving stevesie money.

The salmon might not look that impressive though compared to the rest, as it'll be in plastic and not an option to eat right there. I'm sure you guys can figure it out. Bring some extra styrofoam coolers and ice in case you do split it all up.

We'd be just barely in the black with this; if there'd be a chance of getting more action overall, split it up with starting bids of like $120 on the crabs and $40 each on the oysters and salmon.

With recent developments, I don't know if we will be able to attend now or not. However, I do have a couple of items I could send with Gooch to put in the auction if anyone has interest in them. I have a signed Denis Clemente 8 x 10 and a mini ball signed by Frank and the one and only Luis Colon.
I would love those items, however I think it'd be better for Fatty Fest. We just got a bunch of items today and yesterday so I feel good with where we're at.

That escalated quickly. It was going to be equally expensive to ship anything, so I sent more than I planned as weight didn't matter. 2 jumbo dungeness crabs, a dozen oysters and a pound of fresh salmon will be delivered to roidhead friday. The guys there said he should put everything that's in their box into the fridge right away and until Saturday and then make it look nice in an ice'd cooler to get it through the event. Kept refrigerated or cooler'd, the crabs and oysters will then be good through the following midweek, while the salmon will be vacuum-pack'd and can be fridge'd for a couple months or frozen for a year. Of course, the crabs and oysters will be cleaned, cooked and ready to be eaten right there as soon as somebody wins them.
If there won't be anybody to compete with Gooch to get the whole thing up to at least $200, maybe split it up into separate items however seems right so that this will have made more sense than me just giving stevesie money.
I am sorry but I cannot condone Gooch bidding on anything that has to be consumed on site since I won't be there.

I woke up and looked at my receipt to see if there was a way to check the status and saw "ship on 2/27" written on it. Walked up there and the guy originally told me that meant it will get there 2/27. I must've had this face :dubious: as he then went to double-check and found they had it leaving tomorrow. He says he's got it fixed now but :dubious:
