Sony should really grow a set of balls. It's no wonder they are struggling financially.

I would be happy if the North Koreans who are truly upset over this assassinated Seth Rogen.

I read in an article that Sony has no plans to release digitally, either.

What a complete crock of horseshit.

Sony should really grow a set of balls. It's no wonder they are struggling financially.

If they 'grew a set of balls' and something tragic happened, they would be ruined. Don't be silly, they made the only choice they could.

This sure is a lot of drama over a probably shitty movie. NK looks dumb worrying about a Seth Rogan movie.

No American company would pull this movie. We would let that eagle fly. This is clearly Japanese cowardice.

Sony pulled it because the major theatres refused to play it because in the unlikely event that something did happen, people would sue the theater.

Not just the terrorists have won, but we all have won. Delaying this movie is a blessing, this movie is going to be bad, just like all the other stoner movies neckbeard and the less talented Franco have put out lately.

HACKERS NEW MESSAGE TO SONY

"It's very wise that you made the decision to cancel The Interview, it will be very useful for you. We still have your private and sensitive data. We ensure security for your data unless you make additional trouble. Now we want you to never let the movie released, distributed or leaked in any form of, for instance, DVD or piracy. And we want everything related to the movie, including its trailers, as  well as it's full version down from any website hosting them immediately."

Is this the largest blackmailing of a private company?  I mean, that basically says that Sony now has an anonymously manned filter they have to run all future content through.

It's very embarrassing the theaters felt threatened by North Korea.  I don't blame Sony as much as I do the cinemas.  A little research on North Korea being a physical threat should have put a little water on this lit match.
Title: Re: "The Interview"
Post by: CNS on December 19, 2014, 01:30:39 PM
Sony could GAF about bombings.  They don't want private financials released.  I heard a radio thing on this and the guest was saying that if financials were released, agents could get info on profitability of films and reverse engineer their way into understanding the OH&P of films leading to the ability to leverage higher talent contracts going forward.  I am sure there are a bagillion other things that could sink Sony by financials being released too.

Also South Korea is laughing at the U.S. right now for feeling threatened by North Korea.

I heard a completely diff take this morning on the radio saying that this may be a marketing technique to peak interest for when they eventually do release it.
Title: Re: "The Interview"
Post by: EMAWmeister on December 19, 2014, 01:36:16 PM
They were going to lose money when moviegoers avoided it and other sony movies on Opening Day and in order to recoup their losses through an insurance policy, it has to be a complete loss. The insurance companies wouldn't pay out for a partial loss.  That and the private financials.

everyone already knows how much money a movie grosses. everyone already knows how much money each actor makes per film. everyone already knows how much studios pay out to crews, writers, special effects studios, etc. There's not really much to leverage.

depending on how much you know about the culture of North Korea and Kim Jong in general will make the movie either good or alright. i watched with family that was from knowing nothing to knowing a lot, i think me laughing at some parts made it better for others.

there is also no filter whatsoever, i love movies like that, so a lot of the jokes and satire are blunt with words, but some are deeper satire. most of the funny stuff is back and forth between Franco and Seth, there is a ton of mockery about North Korea related stuff(obviously) that you have to catch the satire. i mean i liked it a lot. idk if that helps a lot but i enjoyed it and would watch again.
