Title: roidhead's top ten giftmas songs
Post by: Asteriskhead on December 08, 2014, 06:28:48 PM
This list is a kind of all over the place, but it's composed of my ten favorite songs related to everyone's favorite commercial holiday that's based upon a completely fictional event. I hope you enjoy them. What are some of yours?

10. Afroman- Violent Night

9. Eazy E- Merry Muthafuckin’ Xmas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v8YQDaEfkU

8. B.B. King- Back Door Santa

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMfhaGNoSfw

7. The Pogues- Fairytale of New York

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9jbdgZidu8

6. Willie Nelson- Pretty Paper

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqNFdFbo8cA

5. Merle Haggard- If We Make it Through December

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGDo1Jybs_I

4. The Flaming Lips- Christmas at the Zoo

3. Hayes Carll- Grateful for Christmas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5er6FZLRm1U

2. Robert Earl Keen- Merry Christmas from the Family & Happy Holidays Y’all (Technically two songs, Happy Holidays Y'all being the sequel, but eff it, it's my list)

Do you refute the fact that Jesus was born, or do you quibble with the timing of the celebration?

I don't know that Jesus didn't exist, but the gospel is as historically accurate (historically accurate probably isn't the term I'm looking for, true to real life?) as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. What's your favorite giftmas song, spracs?

Well, I call it Christmas because I am an American and I honor the traditions of my ancestors, but aside from all the standbys (big Bing guy, here), I like a little https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmo6qqpbIo0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmo6qqpbIo0).

Sleigh Ride is number 1 and it doesn't even really matter who performs it.
