Now that the Big 12 has good and truly been mumped in the ass, will Bob Bowlsby step up and show why he earns a pay check?
Or, will he merely sit back and take this quietly.
Curious to see what comes out of his office.

His pussiness just cost the Big 12 a lot of money and publicity.
-
So what the conference needed, was for Baylor (or TCU) to play Kansas State in a championship game. Oh wait.
-
And this isn't a big 12 issue. It's the name of Baylor and TCU. If it was Texas and OK, the big 12 gets one of them in.
-
Let's just get like Rice and Cincy, don't care what crap teams just to get a damn championship game at this point, we need it.
-

Completely agree.

Yep. They got 4 big named programs and that is exactly what they wanted.

I think it would be great if Bowlsby now comes out and says that Baylor IS in fact the champion of the league.

He can't.
-
Very happy that Baylor & TCU were shown the respect that they deserve.
Don't care about some perceived "slight" of our conference, real or otherwise.

The failure to grab Louisville was a criminal mistake.

Bowlsby on ESPN
I know how difficult it was for the committee and I have great respect for the process and the committee.

oh my eff
-
Bowlsby on ESPN
It would have been nice if the committee had told us that a championship game would matter
-
He sounds like a total loser right now
-
That quotes will shoot him up in the flood aggie pantheon.

Such a losery concession speech.   I'd be really pissed if I was a Baylor of TCU fan listening to this nonsense.
-
Bowlsby's position is basically "I told these rough ridin' teams in our conference, but oh well that's what they asked for."
He's not an advocate for the conference.
-
He sounds like a total loser right now
He really does.
-
jfc he is about to get fired.
-
LOL, he's bagging on his own team.
-
jesus christ this guy
-
We are going to lose our elite round robin and become a shitty conference because of this. Goodbye, money. :frown:
-
After listening to this loser, I might have to re-evaluate the stance that an 11-1 Texas or Oklahoma co-champ would be left out. I think the Big 12 is screwed either way with this loser in charge.
-
Pretty pissed Bowlsby didn't come out and say something like, "we didn't bother submitting a champion because we knew the committee was never going to let a small private school play for the championship."
-
Big 12 Needs to go head hunting for Ohio State and Florida State and ND in nonconfere.
-
He sounded like someone who wanted to be fired. It was like publicly disparaging your own company in front of your company's board of directors. Actually, that was literally what he was doing.
-
Who hired this butthole?
-
I running the scenario thru my imagination now that if this was 3 years ago and Okie Lite was frozen out. Would Pickens let this loser have a job at the end of the day?
-
We are going to lose our elite round robin and become a shitty conference because of this. Goodbye, money. :frown:
I feel like that would be a dumb overreaction.
Agreed, and I don't think it will happen.
I posted this in another thread....We'll RE-ask to be allowed to have a championship game, and they'll grant it in the spirit of this new "don't tread on me" de-regulation in D1. Then we'll start playing a championship game. Rear view mirror for the rest of the conference and 1998 for the rest of Baylor and TCU fans' lives.

So we are going to keep the round robin and then have a rematch of the two best teams? Divisions seem kind of pointless.

Sounds like a recipe for screwing the conference out of more playoff berths.

Yeah. I really don't think the lack of a championship game had anything at all to do with this.
-
How much money and prestige do we lose by not having a team in the playoffs?
-

Something like $2 million.
-

It's key for Baylor and TCU to win/dominate their bowl games. If they do, then Big 12 will go into next season without any real prestige hit (maybe even a bit of a boost versus losing in the first round of the playoffs).

Yeah. I really don't think the lack of a championship game had anything at all to do with this.
of course it didn't. if it were tu and ou the argument would've been whether or not both teams would get in. instead it was baylor and tcu and the argument was whether either should get in. neither did.
-
Teams like Baylor, TCU, KSU, etc will have to give the committee no choice but select them, they will never be the preferred choice.
-
Yeah, what Patterson said, just win em all.

Don't hold your breath... I can't imagine either of these teams will be all that motivated to play in their lesser bowl games after getting mumped by the playoff committee.
-
TCU will. That and they are playing an awful Ole Miss.
-
Baylor is going to be tough to beat in Dallas. I think both of them will win.
-
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby is getting hammered on twitter.
It has not been a good 24 hours for Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
After being confronted by Baylor head coach Art Briles on Saturday night for not presenting the Bears as sole Big 12 champions in lieu of beating co-champion TCU, Bowlsby is being destroyed on social media on Sunday after No. 5 Baylor and No. 6 TCU were both left out of the College Football Playoff.
Bowlsby is being blamed primarily for refusing to name an outright Big 12 champion despite the league’s “One True Champion” slogan and not having a 12-team conference and therefore, no conference championship game like the other Power 5 conferences.
Some of the best reactions include:

Even though we didn't get mumped, that shouldn't matter to the conference, obviously. We should make tons of noise and be super pissed.
-
Bowlsby should prob get hammered though. How the hell do you not have a true champion when that's your slogan.
-

I love that though. We rough ridin' play everybody so we're actually the best setup to determine the one true champion except we often have co-champs. It's fantastic.

"two true champions" may be valid but just doesn't have the same ring to it
-
No we just need our perennial powers to start whipping ass again.
-
Imagine off the choice was going to be Texas or vanderbilt
-
Mother rough ridin' Texas is getting that spot
-
Its weird that the college football world just now noticed how we run this league when shared trophies have been a thing for 4 years.

"The Big 12 Conference. Everyone plays everyone. One true champion. Unless they tie. Which may happen a lot."
-
True Champion(s)
-
No we just need our perennial powers to start whipping ass again.
Or protect the crap out of our contenders like everyone else. The big 12 allowing WVU to beat one of our clear front runners was a travesty.

Holgy needs to learn to lay down and take it hard like the Wisconsin coach did. For the good of the conference.

No crap, Bucky is a company man to the grave.

not even close. we carry much more of a national brand and with that comes the prestige and respect that teams like ours deserve

Lol. We took 350,000 fans across state lines for a bowl game. Our stadium is basically Kings Landing with wi-fi. We stack meat goat money to the ceiling. I think we would have been fine, pal.

can someone with the time and wherewithall please provide some stats on Big 10 BCS bowl participation during the years they had no CCG?

The Big 10 was a much, much better conference then than they are now, though.
