Title: random football thought
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on November 19, 2014, 09:48:59 AM
should snyder quit again right now and then we hire a crappy guy and then snyder comes back again and saves us a third time so football can be fun again? because after being so close two years ago, anything less than another run at a NC is boooooring. like we are pretty decent this year and i can't get into it. but if he were to quit, we get sucky and then he comes back again and gives us a season like this year, i bet it would be really neat.

Nobody is getting into it this year as much. It's kinda bumming me out.

I am having a hard time getting into this year because our offense doesn't seem good enough to beat any great teams. I feel like our ceiling is being kinda good. And that sucks because we have probably the best WR in our programs history.

If we can share the big 12 and go to one of those committe bowl games, i'll be pretty pumped.  :dunno:

Look, some supertuckster is going to come in this thread all butt-bruised because I'm not excited; I'm not saying that, I'm still having fun. It's just that rooting for a pretty good team is kinda hard for me. I can't judge the correct amount of enthusiasm. I'd almost rather us just be terrible. Or amazing. Pick one.

maybe we over expected out of this team.  I'd be happy with a title and a dec bowl game.

I was going to mention Prince as a possible next HC candidate in the other thread.  However, I doubted anyone would see the brilliance  of such a move.

Could you imagine Prince coming back? Opening line of this presser.

To get excited I tend to look at the good signs for the future. Like when Judah is on the field, or I see Clinkscales doing some good. Or when Hubener came in the other game and threw that sweet pass to Curry. And heck, our kicker is a Freshman! There is some upside knowing that our future is not in entire doubt. But I'm a silver lining kinda guy.

Watching TCU makes me think about that all the dang time. Sams was our Boykin.

Sports in general haven't really been doing it for me lately.  I watched Edge of Tomorrow during the KSU vs UMKC basketball game the other day.   :horrorsurprise:    :dunno:

It's nice to have some crappy seasons every now and then. Makes winning that much more fun. I mean, I hope when Snyder retires we get some stud HC, but if not and we lose, and then another stud comes in and the Cats are really good again. Wow! what a ride that would be.

I think the Royals had a profound effect on my excitement of the season.  They got my hopes up and then, when they lost, I just kinda waited for the other shoe to drop on football too.

If we win tonight, I predict that it will be really fun to stomp KU and then hope to hang on for a Dr. Pepper in Waco.

It really is remarkable how this team is in total control of its destiny for the conference title in mid November and I am not completely  :excited:

I would say this is the most uncertain the cats have been at the QB position since 2003 and I think that has played into my lack of enthusiasm for this season.  CJ is a solid but not dominant RB, the only WRs that catch the ball are graduating and the OL has been a disappointment in the run game.

The D will be talented but it appears we need a stud safety for a Tom Hayes D to be at it's best and that is a question mark at this time.

Hopefully we go out and have play a game like @TT in '13 and thoughts of 2 conference titles in 3 years push all the above nonsense out of my head.

Kevin and Jordy are in the discussion - Quincy is probably best of the next group.

I am not looking it up tonight but it seems like Kevin was more durable

I think Jordy is the only one that could be considered and even then you'd have to go to production. I mean, Jordy had an NFL starting QB throwing to him for 2 years and a bunch of garbage for the others (though those were his first years). But his production doesn't come close. Tyler had a battering ram for a QB (god bless him, and those were hist first seasons) for 2 and he here he is. Tyler's durability is a question I guess. But production isn't.

my argument is that I didn't think Tyler's numbers were what they are when you posted that but then went and looked and the numbers put him in the discussion to the point of it coming down to personal opinion b/w jordy, tlbl, Quincy, Kevin, and a couple others who had lesser numbers and lesser QBs

I call it wide receiver science
