Title: Platoon System
Post by: Bqqkie Pimp on November 18, 2014, 10:48:29 PM
After watching a Kentucky team with very comparable length and talent to that of our K-State squad this year, should oscar adopt the platoon system as soon as Nino and Malek are healthy?

Seems like sister school blue bloods UK and K-State would be on a collision course for the NCAA tourney final if we did.

Its pretty sad that he was able to convince his players that platooning is different than second string

Like us, they're so loaded with talent it just seems to make sense to just "platoon" the first/second strings though.  Seems that you benefit from increased chemistry, continuity and conditioning.

We have 11 platoonable players (assuming that Bolden gets in shape) to Kentucky's 10, by my count, so I'm not sure that it's feasible.  Maybe if we redshirt Malek or Nino.

One of the Harris(on)'s need to red shirt and I don't mean Kentucky.

It's not really platooning though because one group isn't playing offense and the other playing defense. To be fair, that would be very difficult to do in basketball.

And don't worry second string, that's not a bench you're sitting on, it's a chinook helicopter carrying you to the front lines...whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup.

I guess I'm used to football. If you say a team platoons I've always taken it to mean players only play on one side, offense or defense.

So, if we do this we are guaranteed to beat KU by 30 pts?

I had always heard it in the context of platooning quarterbacks.

I mean the most obvious and common sports platoon is the left-handed hitter / right-handed hitter in baseball

His little speech about reinforcements is gonna get old if they start losing at some point. Not really a concern tho.

We hit a higher percentage of our shots than UK. So like I guess that means we'd beat KU by like 50 pts?

Not if you don't give a eff about baseball it isn't.

Technically if they were reinforcements the 1st five would stay on with the 2nd five and play with them.  Which is against the rules.

UK Cats that are also hockey fans probably really like the lineup management from Cal this season.

Winning players 1-5 and winning players 6-10 is what it really is.

You don't have a 5 in the purple platoon. Hurt isn't a center. I would split Bolden and Gip up. Hurt with Gip, Nino with Bolden maybe.
