The season is still but a babe, but the question begs to be asked; will oscar's bunch of Bramlage bombers regret their early 3 point success? The Cats have hit over 50% from long range in the first two games with Nigel and Marcus both hitting 67% while young and aptly named Tre Harris clips along at 80%. Even big man Big Meat has hit a three. As a wise coach once warned, the dangers of fool's gold can be real friends. However, the fact that only 1/3 of the Cats shot thus far have been 3s gives some pause to this very early season fear. Overall, the offense looks solid as Weber's current version of assistketball has added getting to the FT line in bunches as an additional weapon.
The real threat for Cat fans through two games is likely the defensive end, as the only real strength to this point is forcing turnovers. Teams are shooting well against the Cats and rebounding could be a potential concern. This appears to be a team that is going to play at a bit higher pace than our first 2 versions of Bruceketball. If the offense continues to click with improved defense this team could contend for the top 3 in this league, but at minimum we should expect to be dancing in March.
Go Cats.

I think our version of team defense will only get better with time. Plenty of new faces out there. We played pretty good defense down the stretch last year.

if only clams for 3! was up and running, what a season this would be. i don't have fox sports and don't have internet and don't have cable right now. clams for 3! should launch around 12/1.

Other than not being able to watch either of the first two games, this is the most disappointing aspect of the season for me thus far as well.

Wes getting in game shape and adding Nino/Malik should improve rebounding. We'll need to force some missed shots to gather a board though...

First half TOs (11 in 38 poss) and our defense the first 11 minutes of the first half were the 2 negatives. The final 29 minutes of the game we actually held UMKC to 41.3 eFG% and 0.92 ppp. Our defense has a ways to go but it was much better after a dismal opening 11 minutes that saw UMKC shoot almost 80% eFG
But there were a ton of positives. 1) I think Foster is gonna have a great shooting year, but if we can get 3 pt shooting from Nigel that will be a huge boost. 2) Big Gip was a man last night. Gotta love how he continutes to become a solid FT shooter (18-23 on the year).
3) 22 Assists on our 28 FGs. Tremendous. 4) Our 58% from 3pt has been a great early surprise but how bout shooting 61% and 57% from 2pt in the 2 games. Very nice
