Title: Joe Hubener Appreciation Thread . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on October 26, 2014, 05:13:15 PM
http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/joe_hubener_763631.html

A proud Kansas youngster.   A true system guy who is a great teammate.   Studious in the film room with a growing ability to check with the sideline and getting the fellas into the right play.    Call him Mr. Everyday, no sloughing off during that Tuesday mid-season practice, he brings it all the time.   Pure Midwestern humbleness with none of that Southern high stepping cocky stuff.

Joe should get 100% of reps against OSU and KU for his efforts

Tough to argue with a 278 passer rating

I'd kill hamburgular if it meant that we would have another 2011 in 2015 led by Joey Heisman.

i don't think we would win any game outside of KU and probably OSU if Hubener had to take us rest of the way. (granted we may not win any of those anyways)

I felt better about our QB situation next year for about, oh...five minutes. I feel bad again.

There was like a 20 mph wind behind him (on FG too), but still . . .

His tosses were fine.  He stared down Jones and Jones didn't really run the best route based on the camera angle.  I think he ran a little too far; he should have already started coming back to cut in on the screen.  But it was telegraphed.

Otherwise, a lot of those were great throws.  He also runs with size and speed.

That was $$$$ throw. Right on the dime, and the receiver didn't break stride.

Joe made backup mistakes. Not surprised or worried.

What I saw in throwing and running ability explains why SAMs isn't riding the pine waiting to take over next year.

Considering that he's a Klein clone (but with a better arm), it's nice to have Colin on staff working with him over the next ten months.

That was a touchdown.

There were some serious officiating low lites in that game. That TD, the punt that they took a minute to make a ruling on the field and one other thing that escapes me.

How was that illegal touching even if the ball didn't hit the OSU player?

wasn't it the punter who downed it?  Or could it have been a player who went out of bounds who touched it first?

I didn't understand that call either.  When you're inside the pylon it moves to the sideline and vice versa for when you're outside the pylon.  :dunno:
