Title: Conference Shutouts
Post by: DQ12 on October 25, 2014, 06:32:44 PM
Our last one was 2003 versus Iowa State!  This one was against Texas.  Ha!  How humiliating for Texas!

 :Woot:

I mean.  College football games give you 60 minutes to try and score points and UT didn't even get any!

Yikes!

I can only speak for myself, but after we held UT to a 3 and out on that first drive and we drove down and got a field goal, i was like "dang, we gotta get those into the endzone if we want to win this one..."

was i stupid or what!?

EDIT: we could've just not even tried anymore!

I think I even said something as dumb as: "I don't think this is enough points for our defense to hold up!" ha ha what a rube i was

I want to be excited but I just have ended up pitying them.  As much better as they are than KU, we are better than them.  So sad to see what has happened to that once proud program.

Shelly and Will Davis played great today. Barnett was a man possessed. D line got consistent pressure. Yay!

I have no idea how a defense featuring Shelly and Davis shut out anyone.  They were both terrible today.  And Mueller....it must be frustrating for him, because it is frustrating for me to watch.

I don't think Shelly played completely terrible today.

A lot of decent QB pressure at times but unable to get the sack.  Barnett was lights out sans dropping 3 easy ints.

What if you were watching your favorite football team and they scored zero points? Like what would you even do

Mueller was awful. Last year's mueller would have had 4 sacks today. Not only does he not tackle the QB when they keep, he looks unathletic chasing them.

I talked to a defensive starter after the game. He was super pumped about the shutout. Also, he knew who they played next week but had absolutely no idea about how OSU has done on the season. It was crazy to see how much Bill has them brainwashed.

Mueller has been terrible all year and agree he was in position for multiple TFL/sacks and could not make the plays.

If it looked like Schelly played not terrible today it's only because Texas made it look that way.

How is that brainwashing exactly?

He didn't know anything about how OSU has done this year. He's a smart kid and anecdotal evidence tells me that all smart kids know what the entire conference is doing every single day.

Also players don't care as much as fans do

To me that's the weirdest part about being a fan; knowing the people actually playing probably don't care as much as the people watching the game do.

I just can't fathom how a player can look at a schedule, memorize it, and then somehow coach comes in a hooks up some electrodes and lights and weird music and poof it's gone.

I have no idea who we play until about the sunday or monday before, usually because I read it on goEMAW. Com

Memorizing a schedule seems odd

So this thread is about Conference Shut-outs.  That Texas shut-out feels so good, man.  I want more.  I challenge the KSU defense to shut out OSU this weekend.  KSU has shown it is possible, now go do it again, guys.

WVU's D held them to 10 (could've also easily been 13), and they didn't get a first down until the fourth quarter. Pretty sure it's possible to shut them out.

This player evaluation thing (which is pretty cool) says our defensive players were really good (I think): https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/10/26/college-game-of-the-week-longhorns-wildcats/

It's going to be almost impossible to shut OSU out because we will be up by about 40 points in the 3rd quarter and the scrubs will come in. I expect a game similar to the UTEP game. Let's just hope the backup punter can catch a snap this time.

How can Texas think they have better players than us when they couldn't even get a guy drafted last year?

I mean if you don't look at the schedule immediately when it's released and put it on your calendar and block off vacation time and schedule flights then, I mean, I feel sorry for you.

That's a slap in the face to the "Ryan Mueller has sucked" crowd.
