won't those new rules apply to those potential coaches?  they can't recruit a kid those guys coached for like two years, correct? DOBO is a noncoaching position.

Was he involved with the gauchos or would that just apply to Rice in this instance?

I think just Rice.  But the Chiles dude is apparently a good NY recruiter....Dunlap is an X's and O'er.....and Rico Hines is a UCLA guy.  But I think that if they hired him as a DOBO they couldn't recruit a Rice kid that was on varsity (or directly coached by Hicks) for 2 years.  So go get'em Frank.  Clocks ticking.

I didn't think DOBO or assistants were affected by that rule, just the Shingler positions.  Not sure, though.

DOBO was actually their target.

High school and summer league basketball coaches hoping to work their way up the profession may find the stairway to the college game more difficult to climb in the years ahead. This month, the NCAA's Division I Legislative Council approved part of a rules adaptation package that will prohibit programs "from hiring people associated with prospects for non-coaching positions during a period two years before and two years after the prospect's enrollment at the institution."

I hate to use the term "sleeping giant", but that's what St. John's is.

You have to try to suck there.
