So, we really did not get lucky with this road schedule this year. Before the season started we all knew this would be tough with Iowa State (sure, we ALWAYS win but close tho), OU (no back to back wins at OU since TLBL's Dad), and Baylor (fancy new house and those passings and passings...).
But, holy poop TCU looks really scary and freaking WVU is dangerous and all moonshiney at home (they made it a night game to double eff us).
We could play really, really well and still lose 2 road games this year, and we have freaking OU already in the bag.
Guys, this is hard.

Pete I enjoy your concern and understand it. However we have never lost to tcu or wvu and I don't expect that to change. Baylor is another story but just maybe we go in there balls out and win one for the old man to lock up a playoff spot. I will also say that if prewett doesn't play and play soon we might go 8-4

I would like some of whatever you're drinking.

Holgo and Kingsbury have yet to manage to stay within 3 TDs of us. I will wait to worry about those coaches until they do.
TCU and Baylor scare me though.

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the board. Expert analytics and investigative.

Its going to be tough. 1-2 in our remaining road games could be a pretty good thing for us. 2-1 would be absolutely fantastic. JMHO.

It's so simple, yet the talking heads at ESPN are able to convince all the simpletons otherwise.
-
obviously we will be in if we win out. That's not what I'm worried about. Anyone worrying about that is an idiot. What I am worried about is how damn hard it will be to win out. This is like the hardest schedule in the history of the conference (not factoring the quality of the conference, but I think it's actually pretty decent).

Oh, I agree. If we win 1 of those 3 I'll actually be pretty pleased and I'll be ecstatic with 2 wins in those 3.
-
i will be pissed if we lose any of them. We have no reason to settle for less than a playoff birth at this point.
-
I think we'll do just fine. The best way to beat an all-out pass offense is ball control. K-State holds on to the ball with long-sustained drives keeps the air-raid offenses at bay. TCU, Baylor and WVU will not put 50+ points on us because they simply won't have the ball.
WVU showed us how to stop Baylor's offense. Baylor and TCU both proved to us in their game that they lack defense, especially run defense. TTU almost beat WVU. Just look at the game numbers guys (especially the rushing statistics!). Waters won't even have to pass the ball against these three teams. We'll beat them with the run and time of possession.

that viewpoint is completely ignoring the quality of product we are putting on the field.

you may be right, (you are) but i am just being honest with how i feel at this very second. (which i acknowledge probably is a little too high on the cats for how we've looked, but this is just who i am)
-
winning one out of those three should be the expectation and anything better is surpassing. also, i think it's absolutely possible that a 9-2 big12 champion k-state makes it to the playoff.

I want the cats to win out, believe me on that, but I'm not the type buy in that early any longer (my sanity and liver can't take anymore of it).

9-3 or 10-2?

Stay healthy and the Cats will do OK (2 or 3).

I love how ESPN has been doing all these playoff committee mock-ups. They're so determined to see 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. They keep saying Ole Miss and Miss. St. Those two teams play each other at the end of the year and one has to lose. I really hope the playoff committee puts up 4 different champions even if they all are 2-loss teams and leave out a 1-loss SEC team. I can see it now...
My selection (so far):
SEC Champ
BIGXII Champ
Pac12 Champ
ACC/Big10 Champ (Obviously an undefeated FSU would trump)
If only 1 SEC teams is repped at the playoffs, you'd be able to smell something awful coming from Connecticut because ESPN would have just crap themselves.

9-3 or 10-2?
man. very embarrassing for me here. basically i think we could lose one more and still (maybe/possibly) get in. possible. i mean if we are the second best conference (we are) and we only have two losses because of auburn ooc then i could see a committee wanting to be politically correct or whatever and put us in. we'd need other people to end up w/ two losses too. obviously.
-
Shut up about the ESPN and SEC stuff

You're right, it's already well-known.

I bet we see Florida State, a 1 loss SEC team, a 1 loss Pac 12 (Oregon), and a 1 loss Big 10 team before a 2 loss Big 12 team, regardless of who the Big 12 team is. Then you have to remember that the SEC will probably have another 1 loss team, and Notre Dame may be sitting there with only one loss as well.
I think we (the big 12) need help before we have a 2 loss team jump any 1 loss teams from the other big conferences.

I think it really might be the hardest overall schedule we have had. There are no clearly unbeatable teams on there, like a couple of the old NU and OU teams, but very good every week.
Someone should really do the research on this (not you or I though, obviously).

absolutely. but i don't think it's a guarantee that all the above happens (fsu not losing, every other conf with only 1 loss).

Dear Petey,
We're not going to lose to these Big East dorks! What is wrong with you, snap out of it!
Sincerely,

Unless 4 of Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Florida State, Mississippis, or Alabamas win out. You're living a fantasy if you think 2 SEC teams aren't rubber stamped for this game. We could win our next 6 games by a combined 300-0 and all they'd talk about is how good Notre Dame's defense looked in their 13-12 victory over Air Force.
-
If anyone asks you say we have the hardest schedule that's ever been played. Like, that's the card we should play. We have the hardest schedule in the history of football but we are looking forward to the challenge, 16 goals, sawing wood, etc.
-
And then if we win a couple hey look at that we had the hardest schedule in the history of football and wouldn't you know it the cats still pulled out a couple and had a great season, hand slaps all around.
