Title: Why Play This Game?
Post by: Ptolemy on September 19, 2014, 12:53:27 AM
We play a top 10 team in the non-con, we risk (greatly) a national championship-killing loss.

Why play anyone in the non-con? Isn't the conference tough enough?

Haven't we learned?

Elaborate how?

Isn't it self-explanatory?

Bill has taught us to avoid non-con challenges.  Yet we push him into it.

Why?

Prince scheduled this game, not Bill. Go to bed.

This game was fun. This team wasn't going to win anything. Shut up.

Also, I'm not a moral victory guy. We should have won this game. That's the shitty part about it.

Yeah a little part of me thought we could make a run to the national championship this year.  The little Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) part of me.

Other than the product on the field, we looked fantastic on TV. Great showcase for the KSU Cats.

Props to the AD for getting ESPN to do a little segment on Vanier 2.0/3.0.

Obviously looking at the overall picture this game didn't matter. Just fun for both elite teams involved and great exposure

Should propel us to a ten win season imho, unless we want to give another one away

We should play games like this more. You schedule them far out, so its impossible to know how the team will be. What if 2012 Auburn had come in? The Miami series was great, and so was UCLA. More please!

Lets face the fact that even in the small chance we go undefeated, the playoff committee would find a reason to leave us out anyway.

Dr Pepper still there for the taking.

I mean, this game didn't actually matter that much.  We played well enough where if we run the table we'll be in the playoff.

It's possible that we can run the table and make it into the playoffs. But OU and Baylor are going to be damn near impossible to beat.

Good team and your homefield is definitely an advantage, but Waters is a liability.  I think you guys need a big time back to take some pressure off of him.

why play this game?

because if you lose close and win out, you still have a pretty good chance at the playoff. because if you win you could potentially drop a conference game somewhere and still make the playoff. because it is a lot more exciting than playing mcneese state (well, don't tell nebraska that, but...)

hell yes it is. No downside other than a potential blow out really. KSU won last night just not on the field.

Y'all have become a sad bunch - "Accept your secondary role." "We deserve what we get, accept the national exposure." "This is Manhattan, KS after all."

Pathetic.

Why accept second when first is available?

Snyder showed us the way. He's not alone. Auburn hasn't ventured this far North for a road non-con since Lincoln drew air.

We need not play these games if winning championships is our goal.

Which is all the more reason why we shouldn't have played this game.

Beat OU and Baylor, AND be undefeated, and you are in the mix for the final four. If we are KState and have a loss, fugettit!

This isn't brain surgery.

if kstate runs the table and auburn is in the playoff picture, k-state will be looking good for a playoff spot. if it comes down to a 2 loss auburn and a 1 loss kstate, kstate probably gets the shaft, but otherwise...
