Title: Work on improving our running backs!
Post by: renocat on September 18, 2014, 10:55:02 PM
It would help Waters if the other team had something else to worry about.  Likely Jack would not have to kick 40 yards field goal.either.  Had to pass into the end zone because we can't run it in.]

The backs need to get much, much better in pass protection. That is the biggest area that needs improvement.

I was surprised that D-Rob played after he whiffed that block on the first possession.

U guys suck.
Drop to FCS so NDSU can take your place in the B12. God knows the B12 needs the help.

Jones & Robinson (even Leverett) are extremely slow. We need to find a quick JUCO back asap

Against Auburn we had 30 carries and averaged 1.3 yds per rush.  I don't care how great Waters can be he will look like crap if we do not get more running production.  I would go for Spoles 2 also.

D-Rob was supposed to be Sproles 2.0

Every smallish back we've recruited since circa 2002 was supposed to be the next Sproles.

D-Rob was supposed to be Sproles 2.0

I don't know what's used more... Every back <5'8 being the next Sproles or every dual threat QB being the next Bishop or Roberson. We're putting way too much pressure on these incoming kids to live up to those names guys!!!

Evolution should be creating better athletes.  Better leave this one to the scientists...  :stir the pot:

Here's a little thought.   Maybe the the coach who has been at K-State for over two decades and staff need to do a better job recruiting.   So, you know, we can actually have some guys who are, you know, better than those guys you mentioned.

I'd say the offensive line had as much to do with that as the backs. But yes, both need work.

The O-Line was outmatched by size, speed, and talent. You can really see that when you watch their attempted run blocking. That being said, they were VERY impressive in their pass protection given the disparity in ability. Say what you want to about the SEC, the DL's there tend to be very impressive.

So this means big 12 defensive lines are equally impressive, in physically outmatching your sec oline, considering your 2.7 ypc?

Fun to torture any Texan.   Great game againt TT.   Still concerned with rushing.  It will be a long day against OK if we don't have a balance offense.

OU's defense has been exposed by WVU and TCU. With that being said I'm sure we'll struggle.
