Title: The DMV
Post by: Havs on June 17, 2014, 07:36:45 AM
Doesn't even give permanent ID anymore in Kansas. I have a cheap-looking receipt that serves as a license in the meantime. Does anyone know how long I have to wait?

The reason they do this is because methheads from MO were breaking into KS DMV's and stealing all the holographic crap and making fake ID's.

Illinois too. You get it mere minutes after they take the pic.  What service!  I don't even know if it's attributable to the amazing technology Illinois possesses or maybe some sort of present day alchemy.

Didn't they used to give it to you right there in Kansas? I remember getting a fresh, warm DL....Maybe that was when they were laminated and Kansas doesn't have the resources to make the plastic ones in house...Can you imagine how long the DMV wait times would be if they had to make the licenses too?

they used to do them in-house (in salina at least).  people also used to love to try to break in and steal the holograms for fakes

Roughly the same, really. The machine does all the work.

Yeah but someone would have to refill the machine of the supplies that go in and then walk out and hand you your DL and then yell  names to a whole group of people waiting who are not paying attention; so they have to keep yelling the name even though the guy is sitting right there. And they wouldn't hire any extra people so that would take away from the people who are available to do the other things.

The last time I went to the DMV, there was no line. I took off work at 2:00 and I was done in less than 10 minutes. I would have gladly spent 11 minutes instead to not have to carry around some crappy receipt. I usually have to wait, though.

Really, I think every DMV should have its own website with a camera showing all of the people waiting to get their license. It would let you know when it's worth a shot going down there, and it really would be great entertainment. The anger, the anguish, the confusion all in those poor saps' faces.

Look like the car was on trailer and flipped off when tow truck looking thing slammed on breaks and pulled over

Scratch that after watching the video again looks like the tow truck ramp was down and jeep guy purposely decided to run up the ramp .. Odd

Maybe he was almost out of gas and thought he would hitch a ride to the next truck stop.

The DMV is fun
Yes, this is confirmed from a recent episode of South Park. Seems like a good place to be.
