Title: Computer Question Regarding "RAM"
Post by: _33 on May 06, 2014, 08:52:05 PM
If I stuff my computer (iMac) with as much RAM as possible will it make everything go faster?  I currently have 4gb and it can hold a max of 16gb.  Would 16gb be overkill or is it just a more is better type of thing?

Seems like that would just make your bbsing experience that much greater. Go for it, I say.

More is better. Once you get to a certain point tho it won't make much of a difference unless you are doing a ton of stuff, or computing large numbers.

Ram is a cheap upgrade, go for it.

You will probably not notice any performance diff except when compiling videos and other high power tasks like that.

OK, I'll put in 16.  I already bought 16 on ebay.  I hope I can figure out how to put it in.

I'm no expert on Macs, but I don't think they need ram. They just work. Try taking out that ram that shouldn't be there.

hemmy, I read that adding 16gb of memory could slow down your computer on start-up?  Why would that be?

(Also nice zing!  ;) )

Just when starting up it tests all the memory. More memory = longer test. Just never shut down your computer like a normal person
