Title: Just spoke with Goodman
Post by: JMart on April 05, 2010, 07:13:42 PM
He's in the process of doing his pre-preseason Top 25 for men's hoop. Asked him where K-State was, and he said, "In the Top 10 - I've got them higher than anyone."

I asked why, and he said, "Freddy Asprilla." I said, "He's good, right?" He did a double-take and said, "Good? Kid is a BEAST."

Just putting it out there a) because I told him I would, and b) he's usually dead on with these assessments.

had been really hoping Freddie could be as effective as NU's Alek Maric when he was a fr/soph - maybe this  is not just another purple koolaid fueled pipe dream - or maybe Goodman has bought into Art's hype?

Sometimes it makes me sad, though... Jeff being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my Jeff.

Bring on the high expectations.  I've waited to have high expectations with K-State hoops most of my life.
Title: Re: Just spoke with Goodman
Post by: WHAT? on April 06, 2010, 11:48:14 AM
while people kept saying at certain times the team played well because they had "chips on their shoulders" and used that for motivation, i think other times (like 3 times against ku) they played bad because people said they were bad and they believed it. i think if expectations are really high there will be times where it might overwhelm them, but it might also finally make them believe that they really are good and they'll play like it.

I don't even worry about that.  I think psychological bullshit is bullshit.  I just worry about the guys not meeting expectations and people being mean, and I don't like it when people are mean to adorable people.

I like the high expectations.

Teams that perennially have high expectations get other teams jobbed by refs.

Can't wait to see more of this.  Gonna be great to see it and know why it is happening.

Shitty call on the other team...camera cuts to Frank with a smirk.   :pbj:

That's the best one. There's one in Olathe that puts the Ten Commandments on the wall and religious stuff on the trays...not cool. The one at 95th and Antioch tastes better anyway. So fracking good.

Thought that was the one in Gardner that all the Embarq people ate at.  Maybe it's the same owner.  Middle aged white lady who always looks like she caught you saying a dirty word in public?  Pictures of Jesus on the wall?
