What an embarrassment of riches. Is there anyway this won't be the best F4 in recent memory? So many great programs
Kentucky - Studs
Michigan - Studs
Florida - Studs
Arizona - Studs
Michigan St - Studs
UConn -Studs
Wisconsin - Kind of Studish
Dayton - Cinderella
-
Truly the best of the best.
-
Based on historical accomplishments, you really can't make an argument otherwise.
-
Sad that no Big 12 team made it but still am about as excited to watch basketball as I've ever been for non-Cats games. A lot of fun for fans of the sport.
-
I mean Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, Michigan State. Those are like the first teams that come to mind when you think college basketball in this century. The top coaches, too, and with the bro thing happening with Dayton and Arizona, there are just so many fascinating story lines.
-
I hope Wisconsin's bus crashes on the way to the arena, but other than that, this is just fantastic

Right? Dayton brings the bro storyline and you can't have 8 studs. You need a Cinderella to make this work. I would even say Dayton had one of the toughest paths to get here, short of Kentucky. Stanford was pud but Ohio St and Syracuse are great wins.
-
To make it a true Blue-Blood great eight, who would you replace Dayton and Wiscy with? UCLA for sure, but who else? Duke?
-
wisconsin is studs.
-
Duke and Carolina belong in there for a major blue blood e8.

And you didn't even mention UCONN. I'm not blaming you. It gets hard keeping track of all the eliteness with this E8.
-
This is the most elite Elite 8 ever. Just remarkable.
-
Just talking with my ku fan bud. Both were admiring the blue bloods still in the dance, realizing both our teams have some catching up to do.

My ku friend just told me there was no shame in losing to this Kentucky team and it made me feel better.
-
was also just talking to a ku friend of mine, and she said that there are rumors that andy wiggins has been publically stating that he wishes he would have gone to uk instead of ku. she said she didn't blame him, when you have a chance to play for a blue blood and then they blue blood their way into the most blue blood e8 ever, you have to have some regret.
-
Could you imagine how much fun those Kentucky players are having? smh

You can see it in their faces. That's what happens at a blue blood though. Always playing deep into march.
-
Going over to my friend non attending ku super fans house. They will not have the tournament on.
-
Willie is likely out for game against Michigan tomorrow :frown:

I don't blame them.
95%+ of KU fans are not big college basketball fans. They just love their team, which is understandable. It's a dying sport.
-
Is Florida getting up there with Kentucky/Carolina/Duke/mich state as real cream of the crop blue bloods?

You bet your sweet as it is. If they keep winning like they have been, they're gonna need to change their nickname to the University of Florida Banners.
-
The four teams in the final four have combined to win 1/3 of the national championships in the last 25 years. Kiss the Rings.
-
Top-notch, elite blueblood Uconn rubbing it in the faces of non-bluebloods across the country.

Doesn't matter who wins .... Duke UNC UK and UConn will have accounted for 14 of the past 24 national titles. Just impressive

this got me thinking while I was bored this AM, and I wasn't exactly sure where to put this. Although they were low seeds, that was a National Championship matching the #2 and #3 programs of all time, this is how I do the math. It's simple, AD's are judged on #titletowns, individual programs are judged on nattys, and most importantly, most recent nattys. I count the ones within the last 25 years as double the importance, and this is how the top 10 programs iron out.
1st: UCLA: 11 + 1 (1995) = 12
2nd: Kentucky: 8 + 3 (1996, 1998, 2012) = 11
3rd: UCONN: 4 + 4 (1999, 2004, 2011, 2014) = 8
Duke: 4 + 4 (1991, 1991, 2001, 2010) = 8
North Carolina: 5 + 3 (1993, 2005, 2009) = 8
6th: Indiana: 5 + 0 = 5
7th: Florida: 2 + 2 (2006, 2007) = 4
Louisville: 3 + 1 (2013) = 4
Kansas: 3 + 1 (2008) = 4
10th: Michigan State: 2 + 1 (2000) = 3
what a historic match up that was.
-
UConn has an opportunity to solidify themselves as the preeminent basketball school of an era this evening.
-
Duke should show 1992 instead of 1991 twice, but i like your system Shooter
-
old indiana tucks have just got to be besides themselves when they think about how shitty their program has become. That program has taken a Royalsesque type nosedive.

Well my friend, there's Royalsegue nosedives (no postseason appearances in over 20 years), or there's a mild nose dive of Indiana which has only been to 1 Final Four, and won 2 conference titles in the last 15 years.

Yeah, but in the last eleven years they've had seasons of 14-15, 15-14, 6-25, 10-21, 12-20 and 17-15. 5/11 on NCAA bids during that span, never past the sweet sixteen. Didn't even make it to the NIT this year, Crean's sixth at the helm. I don't know dick about the Royals, but that is some incredibly shitty basketball for a blue blood. Most of them are turning on Crean now as they don't look to be an NCAA tourney team next season either.
