Title: Optimal Binge Level
Post by: steve dave on March 25, 2014, 12:10:51 PM
Say you have a choice to stay one level of intoxicated for as long as you want. Where do you stop and hold steady? I think I chase the 5 drink dragon until it's over.

Gotta be drunk enough to dance, sober enough to remember it all.  As long as I'm between those I'm good.  Which I think your 5 drink level is a good one.

5 is the answer if you are in the mood to really party. 3.5 is the answer if you are hanging around with some of your best bros and kicking it on a patio or lake during the summer.

Am I allowed to choose 7/10 even though that is physically impossible since I always jump directly from 4 to 9 when I am drinking?

Well eff. Maybe that is why I always get drunk suddenly...I'm like, "Hey I'm only at a 6." And then boom...it's on a 7 point scale so I'm about to start puking.

So, is a 10 like alcohol poisoning type drunk, or just blackout drunk  :dunno: I think we need to assign qualitative values to the numbers on this scale.

Guys it's how many drinks.  It's already quantitative.

It can't be number of drinks because the same number of drinks can get you to a different point on the (7 point) scale depending on how fast, alcohol content, if you ate beforehand, etc...I don't have time to give you the whole scenario...I'm just talking about going from 3 to 6.99 in a matter of seconds.

4 would be starting to feel a hangover, though a mild one the next day, imo.  I try to get as close to that point as possible.

SD's post was talking number of drinks.  Maybe you goons changed it but it's not the spirit of the thread.

It just seems like seven drinks is a pretty weak cutoff for binge drinking  :dunno:

Has anyone ever tried intermittent binging?  I try to only binge between 5pm and 6am.  Works pretty well for me, but it's not for everyone.

A couple drinks makes me tired. A few drinks past that is my optimal binge level. Unfortunately, once I get there I can never convince myself that I'm content there.

crank that bitch up to seven and rip the knob off.

For me it is three drinks that sets the optimal level.  2 pale ales and one bottle of red wine.  A 750 ml bottle of either Tank 7 or Rye on Rye can be substituted for the wine in some situations.

one bottle of red wine is a very good spot to be.

Yeah, I came up with this last night after I had 2 80 Acres, followed by a bottle of Malbec, followed by two Blvd Pales.  That is into pretty decent binge territory -- probably a 3 or 4 on that convoluted 7 point scale.  If we are talking just a constant binge level forever though, I think I'd want to stay at 3/7, so skip either the first two or the last two beers.
