Title: Foster's Threes
Post by: michigancat on March 23, 2014, 05:12:41 PM
Why do we wait until the ends of games when we're behind to let him shoot whenever he wants? He's really good at them and should shoot more of them.

I always wondered why Valparaiso didn't run that inbounds play for Bryce Drew every play of the season.

He chucks up a lot of threes.

Just throw it deep to Lockett every play!

Actually,  this maybe our offense next year

Why don't we do alley-oops to Westicles every play?

It's like in war when you try to win with millions of ground troops for like months and years then just say screw it and start launching nuclear warheads.

More threes from Foster would be easier to implement.

He chucks up a lot of threes.

you seem to be saying this with a negative slant. Why?

Wes and his 42% needed to shoot more 3s

Well to get foster to shoot more threes, all you'd need to do is tell him to shoot more threes

Wes and his 42% needed to shoot more 3s

I can get behind this

I don't have the stats to back this up but I am pretty sure all of oscar's good offenses had four 3 point shooters on the floor.

He chucks up a lot of threes.

not enough.  half of his 2s should have been 3s.

He took nearly a third of our shots when he was on the floor. Nearly half of his shots were 3s. Took just over six 3s a game. Seems about right. :dunno:

I'm not sure where Foster's % ended up but anyone shooting over 40% from 3 should shoot more.

I'd be fine with replacing half of his twos with threes as sys suggested

he should shoot 100 threes a game.  even if he only made 1/3 of them, that's 99 points.

Gonna need to bring in that grinnell coach to give us some pointers

we really need someone with a voice at a low enough frequency to be heard by the refs

I think 10 attempts a game would be a fantastic goal

His attempts from 2 and 3 are about perfect for him. We just need more productive players around him. Hopefully the new guys are really good, and the freshman get better.

Defenses really started focusing on him about halfway through the season.  I got the impression he wasn't getting many opportunities without a defender right on him.  He had some attempts blocked.  Remarkably, he was still able to maintain his scoring average.

This. Once Shane and Will were inconsistent scorers (at best) we were in trouble. The best thing for this team next year is if Edwards really is the scorer that Foster is saying he is. Having 2 legit perimeter scorers plus Gip (and others like Westicles if they have decent improvement) will make this offense a lot better.

I'm fine with players getting better AND Foster shooting more threes. Hopefully Edwards is a slasher and kicks it out a lot.

I can live with this (and hope it happens).
