Title: The Official 2014 NIT thread.
Post by: Boondock Poonhound on March 18, 2014, 10:03:29 PM
It appears Arkansas ( the team that beat Kentucky twice this season) is going to advance against the MVC 2nd best team.

I'll be venturing down to the new & improved Moody Coliseum tonight to watch the local SMU Ponies take on the Cal-Irvine Anteaters...

For those watching on TV, I'll be hanging with the greatest 6 yr old heckler (troll in training) on the planet.  You may see a kid in a #22 K-State jersey on the tube as we plan to get there early to grab the best GA seats in the house.

 And former Cat Tim Jankovich, Coach Brown's right hand man. (And Larry, too, although he's not a former Cat).

Sorry, but it's not happening.  Even were they to make it to the semis Illinois will be there ready to stick a finger in their butt and then make them smell it (smu will lose).  This is the world in which we and Nick Russell find ourselves and we all just need to rough ridin' deal with it.

Nick's shooting touch a little "bricky" tonight. The opposing center looks like he's 9' tall.  Mutumbo offspring ?

Very interesting "big city mid-major" basketball experience tonite... They try to be a "college crowd", yet still have a bit of the "I don't know when to sustain excitement through a timeout" type issues.

Just after they took the lead in the second half, forcing UCI to call timeout, a familiar sound rung throughout Moody Coliseum.... None other than the crowd favorite "Thunderstruck".  It seems you can take Larry out of Lowrents, but you just can't take Lowrents outta Larry.

All in all, I give it a 6 on a scale of 1 to getting a colonoscopy.

 :Carl:

oh... and it's VERY weird to see a circus freak lumbering around the court, basically just getting in the way of the game.

I'm not anti-Jank but DGAF about Brown. 98% about Nick.

Interesting take... I'm *pretty sure* that the Illini have already shat the bed.  Meanwhile, our boy Nick had a solid game and made some clutch plays in a packed Moody Coliseum tonight that was attended by the elite of the elite in Dallas.... folks like George W. Bush, Bookie Pimp, Tony Romo, and Jerry Jones' red-headed puppet of an HC of the Cowboys.

Hell of an atmosphere tonite and a damn entertaining game.  Happy for Nick and the ponies.
