i hear you and im in no hurry to get an ipad (im typically not an early adopter adn i have an iphone) but chances are the ipad and iphone will never do flash (mac is anti flash) but it can stream video using html5. sites like youtube, vimeo, dailymotion, TED.com, reuters, cnn, cbs, flickr, national geographic and more. basically the success of the ipad will force places to also use html5 to stream video. also netflix will bring their streaming service to the ipad but i think its through a app you will download

I'm looking at some idiot using one right now. He looks like he's in Turbo-Happy Gay Land, smashing his fat fingers down on that sleek touch screen like it's a gigantic NES controller. I'm angry that people can afford such frivolous toys. I can't wait to get one. I'll wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation.

Considering you're paying $200 for just storage, and that storage gets you no where near what a laptop ships with, it's a pretty fair comparison. Even at $500, there are some pretty good laptops available. To think otherwise is completely ignorant.

??? I'm pretty sure my point was that the ipads with the smaller hard drives were pointless, and that the 700.00 ipad is probably alright, however; you could get a laptop that is way better than an ipad for that price.

I mean, it's obviously a waste of money, but if you have like so much money you don't know what to do with, buy the eff out of one just to say you did. But don't buy one if you want a substitute for a laptop. Horrible idea.
(Not saying I wouldn't want to be super elite and be all, "hey guys look at my ipad, it's only like 5x bigger than the iphone, but it's like 100x cooler.")
