-
If its Goodnow, an understanding that the unused steam pipes in the ceiling run between all the rooms, and knowledge of how to use a co-ax splitter, if they want to win at stealing cable.
-
sandals you can wear in the shower
-
Condoms
Goodnow....denied
-
shower caddy to hold his toothpaste and brush and shower stuff
i can't think of much i would consider a necessity. maybe spring for some sound isolating headphones? even then, just go to the library to study if the dorm is too loud.
a white board is handy. small microwave for the room?

Buy season tix and a pricey parking pass for football games, and go up to all the games and throw a tailgate...even though your kid might be sporadic with his attendance at your tailgate. But, just be cool about it and don't pressure him to come by. Soon, he and his friends will all come by and hang with you before every game. Your kid will remember it for the rest of his life.

Pete, my dad died when I was a Sr. in high school. If I could go back in time, I 'd let you adopt me for college and the rest of my life.

That's kind of you, but I was describing my dad. I am a proud son.

pete going top shelf!

Pete is talking about his dad. Who tolerated a drunken Limestone pounding drinks and burning butts at his tailgate for several years. DadPete is a classic

Casio alarm clock wrist watch. Day planner (suggest trapper keeper). Prepaid calling card. Harmon Karden tower speaker with 18" subs.

My parents did this with Teddy Westside and the other 2. Microwave basically became part of the family during 4 years of my parents doing this. This is probably the best piece of advice I've read on this blog.

Lived in Moore Hall (Whore Mall) and Putnam. Apartment living is far superior, but I'm glad I did the dorms. Don't forget your shower flip flops, collapsible hamper, and deodorant.

I used to feel the same way. Then I had two planters worts cut out of my feet the summer after my freshman year. Try standing on those while you run the spot welder at a slushy machine factory.

Yeah seriously, the dorms are literally designed to be an optimal breeding ground for communicable diseases, the least you can do is wear some GD flip flops.

Never lived in a dorm. Would like to contribute to this thread, but my lack of relevant experience leaves me unqualified. However, I will watch with interest.

Really looking forward to doing this with my kids. Only difference will be they will have to let a slightly pak'd dad stay on the couch at their house after the game. Go Cats!

one time i had a bunch of people partying in my dorm room freshman year and this one girl had great big bazongas and we convinced her to show us those things but only if the lights were off, so obviously when she did it somebody flipped the light back on and everybody laughed and drank more natural light. college kids are so obsessed natural light / bazongas combo, it's crazy.

I had a bunch of clothes stolen from the laundry one time, including my favorite shirt. :shakesfist:
