Why in the hell is the coaching staff (Weber) yelling not to shoot an uncontested layup. That mentality is what gets us in trouble with leads dammit.
-
I think the larger point is that Vegas was wrong.
-
yeah that was triple dumb, on the post-game oscar equated it to what Wes did against KU, certainly he's smart enough to know the difference, right?

Probably not, but I will worry about that later.

Too bad we didn't have Bill Walker to go throw it down.

He dribbled, then picked up the ball and took 3 or 4 steps, then he dribbled again.

I listened to the game didn't watch it, the idea of Nino pulling off a euro step has me

Either way, it seemed like a terrible decision. Just make the damn layup and go up by two possessions.

My word. The angle just made it look he walked.

He got an assist too! :surprised:

I bet he would have thrown down a 360 windmill if his moron coach wouldn't have yelled at him

Nigel has had a nice stretch of games.

Only to watch a freshman ignore everything and pop in a quick layup.
-

ya playing it safe was pretty damn stupid by oscar and could have cost us the game. he's like 2/3rd's of a coach, 1/3rd complete dumbass
-
We definitely should have dunked there. Was dumb and mean to nino.
-
Nigel has had a nice stretch of games.
8 asst, only 4 TOs, 4 steals in last 75 minutes on the court. I like the TO numbers being low like that for a PG. The other thing is he starting to know his role. He doesn't need to come in and jack up jumpshots. He does a decent job of dribbling to the rim (got a nice driving layup tonight and vs KU) and he finished on the break after a steal (KU game) and after a DJamer block (tonight).

Jesus Christ what a bunch of dorks

^ I've been saying this a lot. Nigel transferring would be a bad thing in my opinion. He has some real upside imho.

Nigel nor JT are transferring you clowns.

I still don't particularly care if one of them leaves.

#InBruceWeTrust
i'm with you rusty in terms of knowing oscar will get the best players out there but why not care if a player who knows the program and has shown to fit into it leaves? makes no sense. plus, they're wildcat family members.
-
I still don't particularly care if one of them leaves.
Only if a much better player is Brucecruited. I think our best chance for future success under oscar is experienced guard play. By experienced, I mean players who will be in "the system" for 4 years.
I dunno... I could be crazy. I have this hilarious feeling that oscar will have sufficiently rehabbed his coaching rep after two seasons and be offered a job. At say Purdue?

If that happens it would be time to bring in Doug!

If that happens, my predicto is, the TooCoolforSchoolers/Frankites stand a very good chance of looking back on the Weber days with fondness. K-State just got back to .500 on coaching hires post Kruger. I don't like the odds.
-
It's likely oscar's last major college coaching gig will be as a Kansas State Wildcat. He will retire from here or get fired/resign and not coach in a major conference again. JMHO.
-
i've changed my mind; i now think n johnson should stay. thomas has been bad enough that johnson should have reasonable hope that he can beat him out for time next year and beyond.

Yeah, I'm leaning this way as well. The staff all but handed the job to Thomas and he doesn't seem to want it that bad.
-
Jevon's EFG is now a cool 25.0%. :sdeek:

Thomas sucks. He's the worst shooting point guard I've ever seen, and I'm not just trying to be mean. N. Johnson is a much better player.

FWIW, he's the worst shooting PG I've ever seen at K-State as well.
-
he's been so bad that i think the most convincing argument that he's not actually that bad is that those numbers are so bad they can't possibly be an accurate reflection of his ability to shoot.
-

I'm definitely willing to give Jevon a mulligan for this year and see what happens after an off-season in the program, but I'm really glad we have Nigel on the team in case Jevon is really as bad as he looks right now (I don't see how that's possible, but I guess it could be true). oscar's number one priority, including coaching the rest of the games this year, needs to be getting a talented point guard for '15.
-

This is definitely possible. His shooting is insanely bad.

it can't realistically be anything but this.

This might be true, however given his starting point, arguing over what his ending point is will be like arguing over which tastes worse, spoiled milk or rotten cheese. We’re shifting the conversation to what level of suckiness he’ll be. At the end of the day, he sucks.

Will be incredibly jealous if there is any truth to this...
-
If they had a do-over on the season, there's no way that Thomas wouldn't be redshirted, right?
-
it's funny, i've barely thought about what this team would look like with angel all year. i've mainly focused on enjoying marcus and the pleasant surprise of success. but thomas turning out to be the worst shooting pg in the history of the conference has me wondering just how much better better we'd be with a jr angel. i think we'd be a top 15 team, big 12 2nd place (basically, iowa st.). i really do.

I agree - we don't lose to UNC or Charlotte and win @UT and @Baylor so we would be 24-7 (13-5) and prolly a 4 seed in the NCAAs.

Oklahoma State should be the best job available this spring, if they don't hire oscar Pearl they should get whatever bad fortune that befalls them

Well, there's one way. The fact that he still lives in Knoxville and the people there desperately want to fire Cuonzo Martin to bring Pearl back.

I bet he'd take coaching in the Big12 over coaching in the losery SEC if given the choice. Regardless he should definitely be somewhere this fall
