Title: Why settle for second...
Post by: kstatefan11 on February 12, 2014, 10:37:05 AM
@ Baylor
TCU
@OU
@Tech
ISU
@OSU
Baylor

Obviously, every road game left will be a challenge against good (OU), hungry (Tech), and desperate, underachieving teams (Baylor and OSU). TCU is the only home gimme. But arguably the four toughest games on the schedule are behind us. The Texas loss still hurts, but a better situation at this point couldn’t really be expected. The same could be said for finishing with a 9-game win streak. But 14-4 can still win the confy. Winning the next three would be huge.

Team #2str8. Imagine the kstate0 t-shirts.

At Tech is going to be harder then at Baylor. Tubby > Drew, Tech's crowd > Baylor's crowd

I mean, if we win out there is a chance. I don't think we will win out tho.

We're going to win out, then lose to KU in the Dr Pepper.

Baylor has a whole lot more talent than Tech, so that game will be harder.

This is probably what will happen. Would still take. 0-4 on the roadies wouldn't be a complete shock, either. 2-2 would be very respectable.

i mean you guys, the only away game KSU has won all season was @ TCU. it's a pretty glaring cold sore / barnacle on the resume

Yeah, I like the optimism and all, but I think we will struggle to get a W Saturday

 :sdeek:

To be fair, losses at KU, UT, ISU, and WV are not exactly bad losses. 2 more wins on the road would likely get us to at least 11-7 in the conference. I'd really like to be the 3 seed in KC.

ok, sure, weve lost some road games... but all the teams weve played on the road so far have been our first game against that team aside from WVU. im going to rule WVU out because they were a completely different team when we went to Morgantown.

no doubt were a much better home team because were young, but don't rule out the experience of having beaten a team at home before going on the road to play them. we know we can beat tech, OU, and OSU. plus like, tech and OSU aren't that good. the baylor game is our toughest left because we haven't seen them before. young teams need confidence and this team has all the confidence in the world after beating KU and they'll know they've beaten these teams at home. not losing 4 road games. 3-1, 2-2 at worst.

Great point about seeing a team for the first time. It's also encouraging that we were in 3 of the 4 games.

ISU - Tied with 4:40 left; had the ball down 3 twice in final 1:23
UT - 3 at the buzzer
WV - Down only 1 with 2:10 left

yeah, we likely lose @OU and either @BU or @OSU.  Predict 5-2, for 12-6 Conf overall, tied for 3rd in conference, behind KU and OU.   Other relevant teams:

KU:  7-0 (16-2)
OU:  6-1 (13-5)
UT:  4-3 (12-6)
ISU:  6-1 (12-6)
WVU:  2-4 (9-11)

5 NCAA teams.  WVU and OSU miss the cut.

We've only played 5 roadies so we're talking about a super tiny sample size and we could have very easily won a couple of them.

Are we assuming that Southwell is good to go and was just something minor and painful at the time?

Hopefully Omari is drinking a few gallons of water every day this week. His health is vital to our team's success at this point.
