Nah, I was actually just coming here to post that maybe he OD'd after reading the Acting thread and thinking it over.

I'm looking at his imdb.  I've seen Boogie Nights (I'm remembering it as too long), Almost Famous (good I think), Punch-Drunk Love (TF?), and The Hunger Games (good, but I fell asleep for a part of it).

No recollection of who he was in any of these, which I guess is good because I felt I was seeing the character and not the actor?  He'll probably be the main guy in the In Memoriam thing at the upcoming Oscars, huh?  Sorry, Paul Walker.

He did an amazing job of being a rich dick kid in Scent of Woman, Along Came Polly, and the one where Matt Damon is a gay guy impersonating a rich kid.  Nailed the crap out of that character every time.

Why do people care when celebrities die? Yeah it's sad when anyone dies but who really cares?

I care when actors I enjoy watching die, because I wanted to see more performances.  I do not care more about them than other people I don't know, if I don't enjoy their work.

I always wondered how celebrities' drug dealers work. Do they only deal to celebrities? Or are they a guy on the street who randomly gets a visit from Phillip Seymour Hoffman? Does he always go to the same one?

OK, I will admit that if I am on/near my death bed, and/or in soul crushing pain, I would do the crap out of heroin (preferably) or some other opiate that is readily available.

You guys, quit praising this moron. He was a pretty decent actor, but that doesn't excuse or cover for what he does. He died of a rough ridin' OD...what an idiot. I'm not saying that was right or wrong because he can do what he wants.

He made his bed, now he has to lay in it. Move on. There are plenty of other actors out there that don't have to stick a needle in their arm to have fun.

Tragic? No. What's tragic is the fact that the guy chose shooting up black tar over being around as a father/role model/mentor to his children while they grow up.

Unexpected? Absolutely not. How many perfectly healthy smack junkies do you know? Eventually the drugs always win my friend.

He selfishly chose himself over his family and that makes him a crap human being in my book.

He shot up and killed himself. Case closed. Move on to another actor.

I tend to agree with ShellShock that we should start taking out all these so-called "actors."
Title: Re: That guy died

You guys, quit praising this moron. He was a pretty decent actor, but that doesn't excuse or cover for what he does. He died of a rough ridin' OD...what an idiot. I'm not saying that was right or wrong because he can do what he wants.

He made his bed, now he has to lay in it. Move on. There are plenty of other actors out there that don't have to stick a needle in their arm to have fun.

No one excused his actions at  all really, but its still sad he choose that path in life.

Agreed.

I'm just sick of hearing everyone at work talk about it's so sad to lose such a great actor and blah blah blah...

I'm like, get over it. He shot up and killed himself. Case closed. Move on to another actor.

The sad sobbing and stuff can happen when it's a tragic death or unexpected. (ie: PS, JD, etc.)

You don't agree with me at all really

PS= Payne Stewart, JD= John Denver. (I was getting at people that died in a tragic accident and those two came to mind immediately. I'm sure there are many many others I could have used for an example.)

First celebrity where I've actually been personally sad they died.

No one is celebrating the fact that he was a heroine junkie, Shellshock, you dumbass.  We're not even celebrating him as a person, really.  We're saying that he was a great actor and that we really enjoyed his movies and now that he's dead we can't say "boy i'm really excited for ____....yeah Phillip Seymour Hoffman is in it."  You might not think that's a bummer, but then again, your point of references are John Denver and some golfer.

He was sober for like 20 something years or something like that. That's what they're saying. So he was an addict before he got good at acting.

2002 Red Dragon
Freddy Lounds
kind of a throw away role for psh, but i liked the movie and he dies horribly

This is one of my favorite roles he ever had.  I think he played the role in spite of the movie.  He played the character the way he was in the books, just the movie wasn't interesting in telling that story.  Just an awesome job of being a total sleezeball.
