Title: Will unfazed by Hannahs' wreck 'em ball; Tech ADV

Southwell and Foster were bad on the offensive end (2-15, 0-8!), Gip was in constant foul trouble (though really efficient in the minutes he played) and it took guys like Will and Nino stepping up to win. (and some nice defense/boarding from DJamer)

Also, another game where the freshmen went through funks, but Westicles did step up and make some decent plays.

Ugly home wins are ugly, but you take them and move on.

And man, if Westicles had finished that dunk...

Will has really kept us in the last few games, really stepping up.  Foster looked hurt. Gip was the victim of some really bad calls.

Are we seeing the emergence of a New Will?

Does anyone have the #AIRWUNDY alley'oop gif? Also the 'almost' posterized dunk

We had our normal dominating first half, 2nd half was terrible. And we didn't make 3s (and actually made 2s at a much higher rate than it "felt" at the game.)

Just good to win this game while playing this poorly.

Of course. Nu seems to make all the difference.

Will is playing like a senior that knows his career of playing organized basketball is nearing the end. I don't know how the season is going to turn out, but he's sure not going to go down quietly. I like the effort, intensity and aggressiveness he's been playing with lately on offense to go along with his steady defensive performances. And the no undershirt thing...

I sure wish Shane had the same sense of urgency, instead of the lackadaisical, too-cool-to-work-hard effort he put out there tonight. Woof.

I also wish DJamer had some hands attached to the ends of his arms. He had 7 boards to lead the team, but he probably should have had double that amount. Can you remember him ever catching a pass or getting a rebound cleanly, without fumbling it around a little?

Marcus had a tough night. He definitely looks like he's hitting the freshman wall. Next week's bye week cannot get here soon enough.

As for Jevon, are we sure he's right-handed? It seems like it wouldn't hurt to try it the next time he's at the FT line.

Big Gip picked up a cheap foul six seconds into the game so he was behind the eight ball from the word go, but it sure would be nice if he could be a consistent contributer. It seems to be either feast or famine with him.

Overall we did hold Tech to 0.91 ppp (their worst in the last 12 games when Arizona held them to .91).   But the first 13 minutes of the 2nd half had me wanting to throw something through the TV.   Tech outplayed us on both ends.    Tech scored 27 pts on 21 poss, they hit half of their shots and had 5 ORs to our 5 DRs.

On offense, Westicles missed a dunk, Foster missed a layup when he was thinking of dunking it.  Gip with a awful pass on the baseline that was stolen, 3 other turnovers and we missed 5 of 8 FTs while hitting only 6 of our 18 shots

Fourtunatly, we finally awoke from our sleep walk, and hit all 12 FTs and 3-5 FGs to end the game while holding Tech to 3-14 shooting to end the game.    Im fine with Tech making a little run, but it nearly took 2/3 of the 2nd half before we started playing some purpose

After Westicles's missed dunk and Foster's miss off the spin move, they both were slow getting back on defense and Tech got easy baskets. The misses were bad enough, but Tech was also able to score easily on the other end.

Also, during the stretch where Tech didn't score for like 7 minutes in the first half we had several awful offensive possessions.

Our transition D needs to keep improving.   Another incident was when Westicles had the nice pass to Shane for the layup on the break to make it 54-47.... Wes was celebrating too much, lost track of him and Hannah got a wide open 3 about 6 seconds later.    Westicles had been guarding Hannah the previous few possesions, and Westicles had enough time to get back to get on him

Would be cool if you could run defensive PPP and efg% numbers for possessions where other teams have to run have court sets against us compared to transition offense. I bet we are drastically worse in transition than the average team.

I tried to scroll the play by play real quick and what I came up with in this game is =  Within 10 seconds of us scoring or turning the ball over, Tech was 4-6 on FGs (1 3pt) and got fouled 3 times (2 off of TO, 1 off of our made shot) and went to the line.  They hit 4-6 FTs.   So that looks like 13 pts in 9 poss and a eFG of 75.0.    Could have other transition chances but like I said, I was just going off of the play by play recap

I really enjoyed our ASTs in the first half. Making 13 fg off 10 asts is a nice thing to see. But than the second half happened and we all know how sloppy that looked.

Westicles missed a dunk where his balls were straight in the defenders face, so you can even complain about it

Shane had one of those nights he sometimes has when he lets poor offense carry over to the defensive end. He also had weird match-ups where he was often guarding Tech's 7 footer.

Gip just didn't play because of foul trouble, his per possession efficiency in scoring and rebounding was actually really good when you just look at the time he was on the floor. He just had some really questionable foul calls against him.

Yeah, that was weird to watch.  I was frustrated for him on the offensive end.

have we talked about how money nino's baseline jumper is? I mean hes gotta be shooting like at least 85% from the baseline this year. need to get him the ball there more often. seems confident.

Shane shoots the three ball entirely too much.

Shane has a beautiful smile.

Shane is bearing the brunt of our awful post depth (my greatest fear is a return to Wooly era post depth).

Shane will light up West Virginia, if Gipson can stay on the floor.
