I'm going 2001. Return a lot and have two straight classes of studs coming in.
It's ours fellas, one for the ages
-
Damnit, dont make me more excited than I already am
-
last offseason
-
Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty excited.
-
So what's the deal with your sig picture there kslimlb3, did you like make that, or what's the story there?
-
meh.. we'll be decent maybe win 8 or 9
-

Agreed.
I expect about the same result as last year. 2 non-con wins, and 5-4 in the conference seems likely.
Maybe we beat UT, and do better than last year. But, then we will probably either lose at TCU or at home against Tech and wind up with the same record as last year.
-

sort of, google 'doge'
-
I'd be as excited as I was two years ago if our schedule wasn't ridiculously hard.

Or if we had Collin Klein at QB.

i don't think jake waters has it in him to win more than 8 games.
-
I think 9 wins should be our expectation.

sorry man I'm thinking playoff. Might crash and burn, I guess we will see
-
every offseason ever :D

sorry man I'm thinking playoff. Might crash and burn, I guess we will see
playoff means winning all but one game on a schedule that includes:
auburn
@ou
osu
@bu
these teams are going to be ranked something like 3, 6, 10, 12, respectively. tech, tcu, and ut will very likely be improved from 2013 as well. be careful with your high hopes, bro.
-
yeah i was probably a tad more optimistic in '12

yeah you may be right. But we will be very improved as well.if we put together a running game watch out. We will have the best d in the conference

"the best d in the conference" will be replacing 3 guys in the secondary, including one all conference guy.
i'm most optimistic about returning the qb. the last three years of ksu football have taught me that you can win a lot of games with a completely average team and a qb who doesn't turn the ball over.
-
This off-season will have a lot of excited poops that's for sure.

My thinking is if we can beat Auburn and then Ou, it'll cross everyone's mind like "yeah, we are doing this"
-
I like the zeal, guys, but I am pretty happy if we merely win the exact same number of games as last year.
6 conference games would demonstrate that the program has really taken a step forward....or at least held ground since 2011.
If we win 7 conference games we might just end up getting another share of the title.
-
We will be one win better than last year. Two if it wasn't for the schedule being so hard.
-
beat Auburn I will be very optimistic, but since I don't think we will, I am not overly optimistic at all. Will probably still be a fun as hell season tho.
-
Fwiw, The mob should have a decent chance of beating Auburn this next season. Malzahan is a pretty good coach imo, and they've put together a good class for next year. However, this was an AU team who probably should have gone 8-4 last season but the winds of fate/SEC sure helped them appear mightier than what they probably were. Also we should come very far with our own player development while I have reason to believe Auburn is going to lean on new talent.
Regardless, every year is awesome and I will be EMAWing my face of in BSFS and road venues next year.
-
8 or 9 wins. will feel good with either.
-
I've put all my eggs in the 2015 basket. I don't expect anything above average to happen in 14.
-
7 wins :frown:
8 wins :blank:
9 wins :D
10 + :billdance:
Add beating auburn and upgrade each feeling one level.
-
Never been more optimistic. Probably the kiss of death for this team, but it's the truth.
-
Pretty optimistic, should win 9 or 10 games if we're as good as i think.
-
Our schedule is really tough and the league is pretty good. 9 wins would be really good. JMHO.

Yes. It will take a very good team to get to 9.

pro tip SD, we will be a very good team
-
I know
-
I usually don't get very excited about football until after basketball is over.
-
I see the Auburn game going a whole lot like the OU game did last year.
-
Was more excited for 2012, but before that, I'd have to go to 2003 for a year I was more pumped for.
-
I think 9 wins should be our expectation.
sorry man I'm thinking playoff. Might crash and burn, I guess we will see
What exactly was it about last year's 8-5 season that convinced you K-State would be top 4 good next year?
-

Both years held more optimism mainly because of schedule and more returning. There are lots of nice pieces for next year, but still plenty of questions; many more questions than either 12 or 03.
Still, next year should be entertaining for Cat FB fans.

For me it's that all losses were close, almost all wins were big. We were much closer to the upper echelon of the conference/country than the bottom.

I don't get it, either, beems. I think we will be a very solid team that can compete with the best, but we would have to be an elite team to go 11-1. We play a lot of really good teams, and while our defense should be a whole lot better, I think our offense will be bottlenecked by inconsistent QB play. For the record, I think that Sams has a lot more upside than Waters, but he's not Mr. Consistency, either. I just don't see this team finishing with more than 9 wins in the regular season.

we have a chicago cubs fanbase mentality

Don't have to be top-4 good. just have to be top of the BigXII good. with the politics of rankings, I imagine the BigXII winner will have a seat at the table, even if there are 2-3 SEC teams that are as good or better.
8-5 last year. solid group returning.

I just want to beat KU
-
Really looking forward to this fall. Should be OK on offense with Finney and Whitehair up front, Lockett (fast & moves) and Sexton (not fast but good on short passes), Gronk can only get better and which ever of two QB's. However, the other side of the ball worries me: Mueller & Bretz are OK but Mueller will have to play knowing he will have a price on his head every game. Trueman is a hard worker at LB but who will pick up being the STUD LB? The Cats were weak at CB but they could get away with some things in both the run and passing games with TY Zimmerman in there. I did not see last fall ho is going to replace him although apparently LHCBS does because there has been no emphasis in recruiting a safety

7-1 over last 8 games and most of them DOMINATING victories, perhaps?

We didn't go 7-1 over our last 8, though. We went 6-1 over our last 7, with victories over Kansas, Iowa State, West Virginia, TCU, Texas Tech, and Michigan. I would be about 100x more optimistic right now if we had beaten OU. Until we actually beat somebody good, I'm not going to start believing that we are going to beat more good teams than we lose to next year.
-
Prolly on here spouting the same didn't-beat-anybody-good drivel after 2010.

Nobody was on here predicting Big 12 championships for 2011. I said I think we could win 9 games next year. When the schedule includes Auburn, @Baylor, @OU, and OSU, that means that I think we will be very good. We just aren't going to be good enough to be competing for a Big 12 championship/playoffs, unless Waters turns into a stud this offseason.

Well he turned into a total stud in the span of 1 month for the BWWB, and now he has 8 months now.

michigan would be 8th or 9th in a 11 team big 12. iowa state would be their benchmark.

Waters will be much better next year. He's got an entire offseason to work on whatever the eff makes him overthrow every ten yard out, and the coaches have had an entire year of playcalling under their belt with him, so we'll be putting him in better positions to succeed. Don't know if we can win the Big XII with him at QB, but he'll be markedly better.
-
i'm not as optimistic as you chaps

probably just need to get him to start reading and memorizing playboy articles like rube baker
momma always said its better to eat crap than to not eat at all
-
I'm extremely optimistic, but less optimistic than last year in which I basically expected s4ms to win the heisman and the cats to win it all.
-
OB has averaged 10.6 wins per season when he has 2nd year Senior starter at QB (and I included CCQ in this math).
I personally have a hard time imagining us winning in Norman or Waco and the match up with Auburn is scary, actually terrifying in the 2nd game of the year for a D that has been a train wreck vs the run without 1Y.
As far as season anticipation, I would rank this season Fif, barely beating out 94 as I still thought of CU and NU on a different plane
1. 1998 - 97 ended on a high note with the big win in the Fiesta, had NU at home and getting past them and going to the NC just seemed like the next stop on the rocket ship rise that cat football was on
2. 2003 - Literally 2 plays from the NC game in 2002 - FFF did some amazing bbs'n with this
3. 2000 - Beasley answered a lot of questions after a shaky start, D was stacked and Scobey was going to be the power back that was the missing piece
4. 2011 - All the returning production on O was tempered by how bad the D was in 11
5. 2014 - TLBL is amazing but can Tom Hayes stop the run w/o Zim? Who will run the football?

Dvonta, Riddle(maybe), safety(Prewett or Newlan hopefully), DL will all be fine with probable upgrades at LB and DL, we will stop the run just fine, can we run is a good question tho, i dont think Jake can throw 30 times a game.

Oh...and I think the wild, Wildcats will only lose two games in 2014.
