I’ve been listening to a really good Pandora station that I created for late 90’s grunge, and bunches of the songs are from those MTV unplugged concerts.
I really like them, but one thing that really bothers the hell out of me is when start a song and the audience starts to clap as soon as they recognize it….and there is always several people you can hear who just rough ridin' loose it and start screaming their heads off. It’s like they are trying to show off about how much more they love the song than everyone else. It would be so annoying sitting next to one of those dudes at an unplugged concert.
I can imagine myself getting really pissed at that guy, and then I’d just start clapping like crazy at the first note of any song and act like I know exactly what it is and that It’s my life long favorite to kind of one-up him, but on every rough ridin' song just to prove my point. But, then that would make me sound exactly like those fuckers that annoy me on the songs that I listen to on Pandora!
That’s a dilemma right there.

The Jay Z unplugged was rough ridin' great. CLAP CLAP CLAP WOOOO eff YA!!

I dunno Pete, I kinda like it when everyone recognizes a song and is like "OH MAN I KNOW THAT ONE!!!!" Its like a great collective moment shared as humans.
I also love on the AIC unplugged, how at the beginning everyone comes out one by one, until Layne is out there and the crowd cheers each time. Its my favorite unplugged.

Those are great. Alice in Chains is very good as well. They talked about how happy they were to be there and stuff, was endearing.

I was distraught when Layne Staley died. What made it worse was that the dumb dumb "Left Eye" from TLC died the same day, and got all the attention in the media.

When the found him. :frown:

I read an article the other day about Layne's downward spiral. He knew for like a year and a half that he was dying because he couldn't stop puking and shitting himself.

If you know who to talk to, Tool once recorded an MTV Unplugged session. Everyone had left by the middle of the second song. Think about that. These are some of the biggest Tool fans in the nation, who paid hundreds of dollars for their ticket, and they just couldn't stand it. Sad.

I like how the unplugged version of Layla became almost as popular as the original.

Think it's my favorite too, but it's kind of painful to watch. You can tell Layne is not doing very well at the time. It's almost more amazing that he lasted another 6 years. :bawl:
