Didn't UTSA back out?

they canceled the '14 game in manhattan,

still scheduled @UTSA in '15 and back in manhattan for '18

wouldn't be surprised if @UTSA '15 gets canceled

IIRC, UTSA would have to pay us ~$500K if they backed out of the '14 game and we still made the trip there in '15. If the entire series is cancelled then they wouldn't have to pay us.

How about creating some rivalries.  These are among the nonconference teams we've played the most:

BYU, 8 games
Wyoming, 8 games
Arizona, 7 games
Arizona St., 6 games
Iowa, 6 games
Indiana, 5 games
Michigan State, 5 games

Some of them are better than others, but it would be cool to try to get a smattering of these teams (or NW or Kentucky) on our future schedules.

And, yes, a NW, Kentucky and Arizona Wildcat trifecta schedule would be awesome.

well i mean if you can't understand the appeal of playing in a good sized destination type city that hosts bowl games against a team that you should pretty easily beat and also happens to be within driving distance to a large number of alumni as well as current, former and hopefully future players then i'm not really sure what to tell you.

Its the nature of scheduling now. It used to be you could get 2 for 1 deals with MAC level teams, but now you have to go down to the bottom level FBS teams for a 2 for 1 for most programs. Only FCS teams go 1 game paydays with BCS level teams anymore and anyone else is a 1 for 1 or maybe you can swing a neutral site type game like in Arrowhead.

yes. which is why when forced to schedule a 2 for 1 with one of those teams, san antonio is about as good as it gets. close to alumni, recruits, former players. nice city. good weather. i mean do i need to go on? would people rather do a 2 for 1 with akron?

That all seems logical, but what about the appeal of scheduling a Wildcat trifecta of teams (NW, UK, UA)?  Sometimes the things in life that will make us happy can't be quantified.
