Title: DominEERing Performance; WVU ADV
Post by: kso_FAN on January 18, 2014, 03:12:28 PM

A .34 points per possession differential against a Big 12 opponent is a complete beatdown as the Cats held WVU to by far their worst offensive performance of the year.

With a scoring trio of Gip, Foster, and Southwell, K-State's offense becomes hard to stop. If the Cats can continue to creep their offensive efficiency up to 1.10 then look out Big 12.

WV got that 8-3 lead and then we put a LESSON on them.  Next 59 possessions --
13-44 FGs
2-12 3pt / 11-32 2pt
31.8 eFG
0.81 ppp
And they turned it over nearly 1/4 of the time (23.7)

Got to take the offense efficiency on the road with freshmen in key roles. If we do, I'll take everything bad I've ever said about oscar.                Well, most of it.

someone please explain our defense; i don't understand how it is as effecient as it is.  granted, the big 12 is awful, but still. i understood (to a certain extent) frank's defense, but with oscar's defense, we aren't really that aggressive, don't really try to get in passing lanes, don't really press the ball or apply on ball pressure, we aren't really that "physical"...it's like we just keep everything in front of us and assume the other team will miss 6/7 out of 10 times.

We apply a lot of ball pressures and are pretty physical. I'm not sure how you don't see that.

And the Big 12 isn't bad at all, at least a bid league.

maybe should have said "as much" ball pressure or as much physicality as in previous years/teams.

It does help that there isn't much strength inside in the league. Also, Nino should probably foul out of every contest with all the pushing and shoving he does.

5 bid league, sorry.

And it's tough to match Frank's physical defenses, but ours still are. I'd say we're more "sound" with our help and where we push the ball. oscar's defenses also generate more steals, but a similar turnover rate. Still pressure and tough, but with less intimidation. I'm impressed especially since we don't have a real rim protector big.

Offense really looking good.

Last 9 games --- 1.13 ppp  and we are shooting 38.6% from 3pt.

Our 2pt is 47.7 and FT is 68.0 in that  9 gm stretch.  Love to see us creep up to  49-50 on 2pt and get that FT to 71-72% from here on out

We don't over play as much now, and it appears we help and recover much smarter.

Meh.  At least 6.  Only teams definitely out are tech, TCU, and WVU IMO.

Fran thinks 6 .

We were so efficient it felt like we were just goofing off the last 12 minutes offensively.

Watching Jevon run the point is a real treat.

The half time television talking guys did a good job highlighting the helping.

I feel like our defensive rebounding has struggled the last couple games.  We're gonna need to find that against UT.

I enjoyed watching our zone in the second half.  The way nino helpped, others recovered, then nino rotated to a diff position in the zone was very effective and surprisingly seemless.  Don't know if I have seen it before, but nino started at the left wing, went to right wing, went to block all with in three  ball movements across the top of the key.

Last 2 gms, we have given up too many ORs.  34 total and our DR% is only 60.5

Prior 10 games to that it was a very solid 73.3% DR

In 2013 conf games, we were #2 nationally with a 1.56 ast/TO ratio

This year, last 12 games we have a 1.73 ast/TO ratio ( 163 asts, 94 TOs)
