Here's a nice, one where Nash credits Kansas State for rough ridin' teaching him how to play basketball :gocho:
That matched the biggest lead of the game, and the gritty Wildcats managed to hit just enough free throws — and make just enough stops — to hold on at the end.
"They just outplayed us," Nash said. "They played hard every time. They don't care what the situation is, they just play. That's what we need to do. We played tentative and we need to play hard every game. That's what I'm going to do from now on. Play 100 percent and give 100 percent to this team because that's what they need."

Guys, this win doesn't count because OSU was down a non-scoring post player against maybe the weakest post playing team in the Big 12, apparently. :Chirp:
Without their primary big man, No. 6-ranked Oklahoma State stumbled at Bramlage Coliseum, looking disjointed and even desperate at times, falling 74-71 to the unranked Wildcats.
K-State, winning its ninth straight to move to 11-3, outscored the Cowboys 15-8 in second-chance points and got a double-double from burly forward Thomas Gipson, who scored 10 points and more than doubled his rebounding average with 11 boards.
Kamari Murphy moved into Cobbins' starting spot, but scored just two points and three boards, less than his averages of 6.1 and 6.2 as a reserve entering the game. And with Murphy stepping in, it left a void off the bench, where beyond Phil Forte, Ford used only three other players — sparingly.

As a team, the Wildcats shot 36.7 percent from the field (22-of-60), including 23.8 percent from three-point range (5-of-21). Generally, shooting below 40 percent against a top-10 team is a kiss of death, but Kansas State's defense paved the way for the upset.
Oklahoma State's star guard Marcus Smart was held to 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting, going 1-of-6 from behind the arc. The Cowboys' second-leading scorer, Markel Brown was just 2-of-8, but he made 14-of-16 free throws to finish with 16 points.

Not anymore. Oklahoma State shared the No. 1 nod with Kansas in the Big 12 preseason poll. Yet for the second straight season, K-State beat OSU to begin conference play.
And then there’s Marcus Foster, who continues to excel as the best Big 12 freshman not to get a house call from Kansas coach Bill Self. Foster contributed a team-high 17 points, added eight rebounds and had a gutsy feed to Gipson for a layup with 1:50 left.
“We called it a bar fight in the locker room, one of the toughest games we’ve played so far,” Gipson said. “For us, to be young and come out and get a huge win against the No. 6 team in the nation, that feels real good. Now the young guys have an extreme amount of confidence knowing we can beat any team in the country.”

The two-horse race we thought would be the Big 12 this season might have just added a third entry to the field.
Winners of nine straight, the Wildcats sent a message to the rest of the Big 12 that they’re still co-owners of last season’s conference championship, setting up a big game with Kansas next weekend in Lawrence.
The Wildcats didn’t back down Saturday — willing to go toe-to-toe against the Cowboys’ proven stars in Smart, Le’Bryan Nash and Markel Brown. And there’s no reason to think K-State, especially while riding its current hot streak, will take a backseat to the gaggle of Jayhawks’ stars next week.
A fearless and improving team with confidence is even more potent and that’s what K-State is right now. What does K-State have to lose? Not much, actually. Nobody gave the Wildcats a fighting chance — even this week K-State wasn’t considered an NCAA tournament team by the so-called “experts.”

I want KSU to win, but I would hardly say I am rooting for them. I fully expect OSU to destroy the kittens. If KU is going to win another title, it is best to do it by beating OSU twice, not backing into a title like KSU did last year losing to KU three times, by beating teams that beat KU. OSU is out to prove something this year, do not think they are looking past a KSU team that has had some decent wins lately after a terrible start. Remember, the game is in the Octagon of Gloom, it not like OSU is playing in Allen Fieldhouse. KSU loses there to good teams on a regular basis. OSU will be without a couple of players, but it will make no difference to the outcome of this game.
I do not root for the wildcats, too many bad experiences over the years living in the same state with a fan base that have made an art out of being intolerable winners and horrible losers. All schools have their share of these types of fans, but KSU must have a 101 course that is a requirement for all Freshmen. I will say most of my family are Wildcats and they are not that way (for the record in case any of them are reading this).

It's amazing what a lack of any real success can do to a fan see when they win a couple games.
I'll reserve my judgment on KSU until they win some road games. They will need to win out at home to contend for champs again. I don't see how they score enough points.

This conference race is going to be brutal. Already knew it, but tonight just solidified it for me. Even Texas Tech gave Iowa State a run.

Smart is the most unlikable player in the Big 12 that I can remember in a long time. I enjoyed the watching Durant, Griffin, and Beasley when they were here, but not Smart.

No sh1t he is a flopper. He actually invented a new kind of flopping whereby you score under the basket and then take a dive when he makes contact with the inbounder coming to to get the ball. He's done it several times and it is despicable.

Freshmen come up big in Kansas State’s win over No. 6 Oklahoma State
Offensively Foster’s somewhat taken over the role left vacant by McGruder, entering the game averaging a team-best 13.8 points per game, and that continued to be the case on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas on the other hand proved to be the spark plug the Wildcats envisioned against Oklahoma State, with his speed proving to be a factor on both ends of the floor but especially on offense. Offensively he gives Kansas State a point guard capable of applying pressure to the opposition off the dribble, something they lacked while he sat out during the remainder of the fall semester. After using that speed to set up teammates in his first two games (5.0 apg), Thomas got untracked scoring-wise against Oklahoma State.
Add in the interior toughness displayed by rugged forward Thomas Gipson (11 points, ten rebounds) and 15 points from Nino Williams, and Weber’s Wildcats were able to put forth the effort needed to survive shooting 36% from the field. Kansas State will be successful when they’re balanced offensively, and defensively when they make teams work for everything they get in the half court.
Can Kansas State surprise some people and contend for another Big 12 title? That remains to be seen. But if there’s anything to be taken from their win over Oklahoma State, it’s that the Wildcats have no intention of going down without a fight.

i disagree on the timing. kat kid stated during the game that he thought it should have been saved for the next break and i agree with him.
