Rec votes. Smart sat forever, and they were without two contributors. Cats will alway be #1 in my heart though.

Our best player only logged 17 minutes and fouled out

Smart sitting for like ten minutes is part of the game. No voter in their right mind would take that into account. Also, a backup guard being out happens all the time.

You overestimate the amount the typical voter in these things cares.

You're probably right.

I love Shane, but he's currently our 3rd best player and by the end of the year will likely be 4th.

My real question is what kind of move we'll make in kenpom. Currently #57 and beat #5. I'm guessing up to #44.

Foster, Gip and JT...in that order. Shane is a close 4th but still just 4th.

Probably 3rd or 4th in the "receiving votes" section in AP.
NFL playoffs are on, and bowl games. None but the 100% basketball dedicated writers (e.g. Goodman, etc.) even knows our game happened, I bet.

When do they come out? Tia

Pretty sure they come out on midday Monday's unless I'm mistaken. My mind is still partially melted from the Chiefs game.

Rec votes, BUT MORE THAN CREIGHTON. :fatty:

Rec votes. Not in Parrish's Top 25 and 1.
You are correct so far. No love from Parrish today.
-
We've been on ESPN a ton lately due to Ole Miss, Gonzaga, and now Okie State wins. Also, they pumped up our 9 game winning streak a bunch during the most recent highlights. Wouldn't be surprised if the voters kind of forgot about the early season by now and ranked us higher than we should be. My guess is #24.

How does K-State's RPI and record thus far (non-con and first conference game) compare to previous years (like Altman Era to now) and were they ever ranked at this point in the season with 3 losses.
Mainly what I'm asking is: are the Cats ranked, albeit 25th, because of: their record, the coach, last years success, or the potential the FR have? 11-3 seems pretty pud, with bad losses, however the Cats have strung together some nice wins. Just wondering if they would be getting this kind of love if this were a Wooly team with their back story?
I mean, RPI of 54 is dece....

2 Top 25 (AP/Coaches) wins in our last 4 games. 3 wins over RPI Top 30 teams in our last 4 games. Wooly never even came close to a run like that.

Biggest jump in ranking is KSU, but 11 other teams gained more new votes than KSU...KU lost the 5th most votes

Coaches (or their secretaries/GAs/DOBs) don't really pay that much attention to other teams.

I wouldn't call a rpi of 54 decent for a power conference team. Baylor had a rpi of 55 last season and went to the NIT.

If we win the right games and the right number of games.

Cats are currently 3-1 vs RPI top 50, Baylor went 2-11 last year. We'll see how we end up, but we are on pace to be in good shape.

Another chance to knock off a ranked opponent tomorrow as Oklahoma sneaks in at #25.
Plus we'll likely swing back into the rankings with a couple wins this week.
More importantly we'd get (likely) 2 "quality" wins in the eyes of the committee.
These are two home wins that we need to get.

No. I like Wichita State. I also like how their current ranking ruffles so many squawk feathers.
me "So what's it like being a KU fan with all your stud players?"
KU fans at work "It's pretty awesome, we'll probably win another natty this year."
me "Really, how's that seeing as your not even the best team in the state?"

man, i can't even imagine having that conversation as a KSU fan. considering our 26pt raping and such.

Na, you guys have it all wrong. You have to remind KU fans of the backdoor conference title if you really want to ruffle the their feathers. I'll demonstrate
KU fan: "Hey there Tag, rock chalk! think the kitties will have any better luck in AFHW?"
Me: "Well they probably don't need to, we could get blown out of the water both games, lose on the road to the 2 next best teams, and still end the season with a conference ring, as long as KU keeps dropping dumb games when they shouldn't. #2STR8!!"
KU fan: :curse: :curse: :curse:

I expect we'll be ranked around 18 or 19 by the time KU swings by the fOOD to pick up their next guaranteed win against us. 'cause you know, anything we can do to help their RPI.
We're a quality team that only shits itself when playing our instate rival. I'm sure the committee will take that into account.

Wynn has us at #27. The goal is always to make his Top 16 so we can see a fantastic advanced stat fillled breakdown of the Cats.
