It's fun AF until you run into something. Going to have fun.

I gotta admit I was pretty liquored up when I started this thread, but now that I'm even drunker, I stand by it. Tulane Wave, more like a ripple, especially with oscar's new cruits on the floor. Go Cats.

24 months from now.... we are going to be really, REALLY good!

I'm really excited about the nucleus of Foster, Westicles, N. Johnson and now Thomas on the wings and in the backcourt. Jevon is the final element. Only Foster has a shot to leave early, and that is slim imo. So we're going to get four years and the early experience as frosh should pay great dividends.
That isn't to say they can't be successful as freshmen and sophomores. Sure, Cats are height deprived inside this season, and we'll have to see how Gip and D.J. hold up in the B12 grind, but they provide some good leadership for the young guys and are solid in their roles (thus far) despite their disadvantages. Having Shane this season obviously helps as well. We'll have to hope Bolden can provide some quality situational size next year and thereafter. If he can, and with the addition of Edwards on the perimeter, a No. 4-5 seed in the tourney should be within reach, perhaps higher.
As this young quartet transitions into upperclassmen we'll obviously need to find some reliable help inside to replace Gip and eventually Bolden and Johnson. Hurt looks like a solid start, but more will have to come, imo. In any regard if there is anything that oscar has shown he needs to succeed it is good to great perimeter play. Especially point guards. Looks like he's found it in Thomas, and when these guys are juniors and seniors Weber will have four athletic, veteran leaders leading the team from outside.
Weber and Lowry along with the other assistants seem to have laid a pretty good foundation for success over the next few years. I wasn't expecting it, but am happy to be wrong in this regard.

I am feeling better about oscar with Lowery. The good thing is there isn't any immediate danger of Lowery taking off after the way he finished at S. Illinois. IMO Lowery brings a toughness on defense that oscar lacked without him, and oscar's teams ability to force TOs (or not) with Lowery demonstrates that in part.

Foster has no foreseeable chance of going to the NBA early.

Foster has no foreseeable chance of going to the NBA early.
Agreed, even saying he had a slim chance was very generous.
-
I love what he looks like he could become, but I would be surprised if he ever makes the NBA, let alone going early.

Yep, but he can be a damn good college player. Like Pullen and Rod.

Yes, and that is all I care about when it comes to Wildwildcat ballers.

True, and that's much more likely what we'll have, as opposed to a Beasley (or even a Richmond/Blackman)

In any case that core group on the perimeter should be very good by the time they're seasoned vets.

Fully agree. Need to find a power forward and a couple bigs ASAP, though.
-
And just like that, the Tulane victory ushered in a new era of positivity on the goEMAW bball board.

i'm a dumbass

'cept kim, obvi

i didn't say we'd make the tourney this year or be playing in any final fours soon, but oscar said we were far more athletic than last year, and (despite my initial incredulity) he's right. credit where credit is due. the team's improvement (and oscar's tenure here) will rest largely on these 4 kids, but all signs point to this class being better than any of us thought. and frankly, better than i thought a oscar class would ever be.

I would prefer Diaz to Krap. Just saying.

Lol, JO was not athletic, he was a tall spaz, tall is not synonomous with athletic. For instance a comentator may say " this team is tall and athletic" If there weren't a difference they could leave one out.
-
Have you ever watched krap? Also, calling our block leader out for a lack of athleticism is stupid.

Smell test: stinky.

Troll.

There is no defense for last years cats being more athletic than Bruces collection of greyhound cats.
To argue for that is absurd.

To argue about it, in the first place, is absurd. Who gives a crap?
I mean, we're probably more athletic than Wisconsin. But they'd punch our dicks in. Last year's Cats would beat this year's asses. Who cares who's more athletic?

I agree with all of the above, who started arguing this anyway? Whatta tard

To say athletism doesn't matter in basketball is also absurd.

Well, didn't argue that. So...
-
Yeah, Bvis didn't say that. I think the key diff between these teams is a clutch scorer and a shot blocker, or at least the threat of the block.

This is how a boss moderates

good lord you guise, i was wasted and enjoying our sweet dob'ing cats and now this thread turns into this. just enjoy that we're playing better and showing promise for the next couple years.

Don't abuse your credibility, you stubborn ass.

Move Nino up the Athletic charts after that circus layup and sick baseline dunkshot.

Because hopefully in 2-3 years we'll be better than we were last year. That would be the tops IMO.
