Thing is, back in the 90's KU played WSU, and after Roy and the Hen House wiped the floor with them a few years in a row, WSU decided, "naah, that's okay, we don't need to keep doing this . . . Hey would you look at the time, I think I left my iron on . . . "
They couldn't wait to play K-State, and Jim Wooldridge finished it off by winning the last two against pretty good WSU teams. Jim Wooldridge!
They only want to play KU or K-State when they're good.

They would be the tourny darling and the only damn thing any of the commentators would talk about other than the game being played immediately at that time. They would get more pub out of that than playing KU.

Anyway - I don't really care about playing WSU one way or t'other, but it makes no sense to me how WSU holds none of the cards in this game yet wants to dictate the terms. Methinks these Napoleons are just making a show of it for their little fans.

I think ku and kstate should play them at home just like any other non con. Eff a return game though.
They're not asking for a return home game though. It is strange that with how KSU and KU schedules they won't play them at Intrust where WSU won't have a majority of the fans.
Also note that Frank was close to pulling the trigger until Marshall pissed him off by blabbing about the secret scrimmage.

At this point I'd go for a 4 game deal with WSU. Sprint, OOD, Intrust, Round place.
The last deal with them was a 3 (Manhattan) for 2 (Wichita). It seemed reasonable at the time.

Marshall is just making all these comments because he knows that even if a game with KU does get scheduled, he won't be there by the time the game comes around.

I'm all for ku and K-State playing WSU. What I was getting a chuckle out of is how you only really hear all that bluster out of WSU when they're good. When they weren't so good they weren't very interested in continuing to get their teeth kicked in every year by ku, and K-State holds like a 10 or 11 game lead in the series.
It's also a little funny to read all the "any where, any time" talk, and then see Marshall say he's not going to AFH for a paycheck.
We are talking about a school that couldn't sell out the 15,000 seat "Big City" arena just down the street from their campus last weekend. Right there in their home town, an MSA of nearly 650K, undefeated, coming off of a Final Four season, and they can't move 15,000 tickets for an SEC opponent??

I think the point of that quote was to say that he'd play in AFH but it'd be with the intent of winning, not JUST for the paycheck.
