South Dakota came into the game shooting 44.1%. Cats came in allowing 43.6%.
1-6 on FTs in the final minute.
Awful paint defense (SD shoots 60% on 2s).
Fortunate to win.
-
During SD's 13-0 run in the first half... we were 0-10FG with 7 TOs. Just brutally bad. Also missed 8 of final 11 FTs.
18 off rebounds may be the only nice thing that came from this game
-
we are really bad.. there isn't anything we do well
-
Really glad shane took my suggestion to use his old twitter time to find his shot again.
-
Has anyone realized that _fence's thread titles are a complete tour de force in how to title a thread? The guy is a master at this and we are just ugly fools who he shares it with.
-
They are great.

Wish we had a coach who emphasized making free throws.

how does one, coach free throw shooting?
-
considering USD is a bottom 50 team in division 1 when it comes to raw talent this result is pretty stunning, even for oscar.

Now, let's keep in mind these wily Coyotes took Wyoming to OT, hung with a fine Air Force squad, and stayed within 5 of Canisius (Freddy Asprilla, alum). Also a solid road win in Texas.

A real X's and O's coach would figure out a way.
-
The number of games that this team has come out flat this year is pretty terrifying. If we're not going to be talented, it would at least be nice to see us try to make up for that with effort. When Nino let that pass go right through his hands and then just watched as the ball slowly bounced to an opposing player who took it down for a score, I went rough ridin' nuts. I really wish I didn't care as much as I do about Cats basketball :frown:

I never understood fans blaming coaches for bad FT shooting. They're damn FTs. Kids should take pride in their craft. They're free points.

Been some pretty good coaches come through that program in Texas.

I can't count how many times I've said this to my Dad about WVU sports (mainly basketball/football).
 :drink:

We got Higgins'd!
Seriously, our transition defense was atrocious and we weren't even trying on defense for about half the game. I'm starting to expect poor ft shooting, but we should have shot about 20 more and won easily. We were getting mauled when attacking the rim and nothing was getting called.
-
i used to enjoy kstate basketball very, very much. :frown:

I feel bad for the students in the crowd tonight who did their best to will our team to victory. I remember doing that for almost every game that Jim Wooldridge coached in Bramlage. I thought if I just really brought it every night, that eventually Jim and the Cats would make it worth my while. They never did, oscar and the Cats will do the same thing to all the #1cats at K-State right now, they'll break your goddam heart.
-
Didn't watch the second half. Feel pretty good about that decision.

Yeah, frank and hugs had this down to a tee. :flush:

I know, right? now that we have a certified X's and O's coach our FT% should be pretty awesome and really help us close out games.
-
it got so bad that we were running our inbounds plays to gipson
-
our brand of basketball is awful to watch. Not entertaining at all.

#bruceketball's most entertaining assets are raining 3s, getting open shots within the offense (leading to a high assist%), and creating steals/turnovers.
When none of those things happens at a high rate it is pretty awful to watch.

I like each of those things very much

Fan, tell me one thing I might've missed to make me feel better about the cats.. I did enjoy Omari's play he played decent and actually finished at a very high percent around the rim for him

I really like watching Marcus Foster and Gip (on offense anyway). Shane had moments of good and moments of bad. Omari was a nice 2nd half spark. I still like little Johnson, he just needs to hit more of those open threes (he's not shy about shooting them though).
Will was pretty terrible; the TO, bad transition defense, "and 1" sequence was particularly brutal. He had a huge opportunity to hit a wide open 3 to give us some distance late and missed. Westicles was non existent. DJamer wasn't real good either.
Overall just a terrible defensive performance and again indicative of the upperclass having very little leadership on this team. Just like No Colorado this team came out and coasted (especially on the defensive end) which let a clearly inferior team hang around.
I don't know if that answers your question or not. The positive of this team is definitely the frosh.
-
I really like foster too. That said, last night, when he didn't have the ball he often would basically just stand on the wing and wait until it was passed back around to him. I imagine this is some great x and o offensive scheme that I am not picking up on, but it seems like our offensive scheme is more of a train wreck than the Frank's o was pre brad introducing his.

oscar did the same thing at times with Rodney last year. Basically run a 4 man motion to use clock, then run some sort of set at the end of the shot clock to get a look that involved the best scorer. Its part of his offense.

...GUT CHECK...
...THIS TIME WE WON...

This graphic would be really cool if they threw in a few advanced stats and the SID used it a tool to educate our fans about such stats. JMHO.

send them an email!

I continually get this nagging thought that this team thinks it's better than they actually are and try to coast.

would throw the tucks for a loop.
Remember how crazy awful wooly's close game record was?

When Weber pulled him he yelled at him about not playing like a senior. He didn't put him back in for a while, IIRC.
-
The only reason I stayed till the end of the game last night was in hopes that I'd catch a free t-shirt

Apologies. That was pretty ridiculous and I don't notice because I turn sig pics off.
-
kstate did a good job of reversing their horrible first half to% and poor deboarding% in the second half. they turned in dominant numbers in both those categories in the second half, good enough for the win, despite still not being able to do much about their efg (at least not without fouling them).
-
wait, did we really turn it over 40% of the time in the first half? My goodness.
-
Guys, for the first time in my life, I wanted us to lose that game as I watched. I didn't like the feeling.
oscar in the postgame with Stanbot was pathetic. He seemed happy. He's a real bastard.
You don't win with 3 star talent (at best) by being a nice guy.
-
I wonder how giving up multiple fastbreaks off missed shots to a team of Dakotanians is scored on the play hard chart

Me too, and I don't feel bad about it. I am pissed that I'm reduced to cheering for losses in inconsequential games in hopes that players and fans learn some lesson.
