Take it to the free money thread.

Amazing, really, how fast it moved from K-State +2.5 to K-State -3... More amazed that the oddsmakers set us as a dog though since Sagarin has KSU by 4, Massey has KSU by 3 and my bro The512 has 'Cats by 3. Interested in seeing what ChUMP and SNOWBRAG have.
:emawkid:
-
I have a full report coming up but KSU by 3 is pretty close

Saw this thought I would share
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl: Michigan (7-5) vs. Kansas State (7-5)
Saturday, Dec. 28, 10:15 p.m.
Why You Should Watch: With a temperature of 78-degrees at kickoff, at least it won’t be awkward seeing Brady Hoke pace the sidelines in a short-sleeved golf shirt.
Seeing who wins the battle of “LHC Bill Snyder’s morals” versus “the morals found on Arizona State’s campus” (where this game will be played) may be the single most intriguing matchup this entire bowl season.
Quick Pick: Kansas State 24, Michigan 16
-
I don't mean this bitchy, but why would anyone pick us to win a bowl game?
-
No way we only score 24.

I'm taking the over.

Haven't yet, I figured somewhere in the mid-50's.

*edit* nevermind, ESPN seems to have that as the O/U for every game

Fair point.

ESPN has the same moneyline listed for the o/u on multiple bowl games.

based on our discussion tonight, this statement puzzles me.

No way we only score 24.
This. We've scored at least 31 in each of our last 6 games.

yes, however, 4 of the last 6 opp's give up atleast 31 per game. and the two that don't (OU, TCU) we had them at home.

i believe i questioned why people thought we would be able to (against a ranked team, on the road) as we hadn't. It was our highest output of the season.

Why do we suck in bowl games?
Is it because Bill's decided week-to-week scheme doctor advantage is mitigated when the other coaching staff has a month to prepare for us? :dunno:

How many points did we score in the last bowl game where the opposing team colors contained blue?

How many points did we score in our last December bowl game?

How many points did we score in the last bowl game we played in that fell on the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese zodiac?
-
I ran the numbers on all of these.
Cats 38, Wolves 28.

Our defense is pretty good, but nothing special. We're really young, so we're a lot less aggressive than a normal Greg Mattison defense. Jake Ryan is only playing his 5th game after blowing his ACL in the spring, so with him not at 100% we don't really have any stars you have to gameplan around/account for. We also don't really have any glaring weaknesses, for the most part.
We rotate a ton of guys, most of them underclassmen. We rotate through 9 DL's, 5 different CB's, 5/6 LB's and 4 safeties each game. As far as "starters" go, our 2 corners are pretty good, but are always going for the INT which has been boom or bust. Countess is the most consistent. Frank Clark is a pretty good DE, but struggles when teams run at him. Our LB's are good against the run, but are normally exploited in the passing game, now that Ryan isn't at full speed. We have two solid yet unremarkable safeties that play as a unit, but since the Nebraska game Mattison has been playing the "other" unit for the majority of the snaps. Nobody can understand why as the "other" unit has been horrible, hopefully they find their way back to the bench for the bowl game.
Overall, our D has struggled against HUNH offenses the most (Indiana,OSU). In a few others they seemed to wear down late in games when the O stalls out (over and over)and the D's on the field for long stretches.
-
We are the opposite of HUNH.
-
We are the opposite of HUNH.
This is an understatement.
-
Your D will have plenty of Time to disguise your defense into Dana Dimel Checking into short side speed options.
-
Likewise,
Your D coordinator will have lots of time to prepare to disguise your D as a press getting jake to check into a double move which will result in a sack.

its pretty simple, if michigan doubles lockett, they win.

Insidery (not really) info says Michigan has had their true freshman QB taking all 1st team snaps in practice. Don't know if Gardner is hurt or wut.

Gardner might be on the hockey team...no sense in injuring him in a lost cause.

Turf toe, he may not play. In which case we're mumped.
Morris came in with a ton hype/stars, but missed his SR year with mono and has played a grand total of about 4 minutes of mop up duty this season. He hasn't played a meaningful football snap in almost 2 years, plus he's a true freshman and we can't run the ball.
If Gardner can practice once or twice next week, he'll play. Looking less and less likely though.

Our game is currently off the board at virtually every shop both online and off. That leads me to believe that Gardner won't go at all.
Hope everybody got in early on KSU. Could also be a decent middle opportunity depending on where it re-opens based on Gardner not playing.

Yeah, I can't believe we all didn't jump on KSU in a bowl game. Stone cold lock of the century.
-
Although very painful, turf toe can be semi stablelized and numbed. But there is a chance of permenant injury to the foot.

I was at least excited for the matchup when Gardner was going to play, now it'll be a blowout/snooze fest.

Perhaps, Lewan seems like the type that beats the crap out of a lot of people. I would hate his guts if he didn't play for Michigan, seems like kind of a bad person.

I don't like that he "lost his cool" on the field a few times this season and admit that he constantly face masks people. However, I have seen nothing to suggest that he is a "bad person" off of the field. He turned down millions to finish his degree and out loyalty to his teammates and coaches. If you are basing your judgments based on reports by an attention-seeking xenophobic tea party conspiracy theorist and a Bucknuts staff that publishes a photoshopped hospital document that claims someone was diagnosed with "assault" than I suggest you reconsider.

I mean, I love the guy, but coming back to school doesn't make you a "good person", either.
He's lost his cool a ton over his career, and has had a few rumored incidents around campus. I have no idea if he beat up an OSU fan or not, and don't really care if he did, but it's pretty safe to assume that assault and general assholeyness aren't foreign to him.

What about threatening to rape a rape victim if she testified against a teammate?
Shortly after the woman reported the rape, she began to receive threats from Gibbons roommate and fellow football player, Taylor Lewan (now an All-American), that he would rape her again if she pressed charges against Gibbons.
The threats were reported by two other football players to the Office of Student Affairs who reported them to the University police. The University police did a “wellness check” on the young woman and met with Taylor Lewan. They warned Taylor Lewan not to threaten the woman again and that he might face criminal charges. No criminal charges were ever filed by the campus police.
Would that make him a "bad person"?

It would. However, there is no evidence tying Lewan to any of those documents. I could just as easily find some redacted documents related to a crime at KSU, buy a url, start a blog, and claim that the documents were referring to Collin Klein. Let's stick to the facts. He's a rapist (I'll leave out murderer because that would just be speculation based on high probability). The end. He's a bad person, degree in hand or not.

:buh-bye:
It would. However, there is no evidence tying Lewan to any of those documents. I could just as easily find some redacted documents related to a crime at KSU, buy a url, start a blog, and claim that the documents were referring to Collin Klein. The guy behind "Washtenaw Watchdogs" is a tea party conspiracy theorists who thinks that Chinese grad students are spies that are stealing technology from the US: http://willowruntpc.ning.com/profile/DougSmith
Let's stick to the facts. He's a rapist (I'll leave out murderer because that would just be speculation based on high probability). The end. He's a bad person, degree in hand or not.

Our game is currently off the board at virtually every shop both online and off. That leads me to believe that Gardner won't go at all.
Hope everybody got in early on KSU. Could also be a decent middle opportunity depending on where it re-opens based on Gardner not playing.
The line is back up on most sites now. Cats -4.5 or -5 depending upon where you go.
Interesting, if true.
Really thought the books would place more value on Gardner...
:sdeek:
We're going to get beat like little Ohio kids in burlap sacks. :Crybaby:
I was at least excited for the matchup when Gardner was going to play, now it'll be a blowout/snooze fest.
Was that kid that Lewan beat the crap out of outside The Little Brown Jug in a burlap sack?!?
:Wha:

I feel a little guilty rewarding Michigan by letting them play us, but declining to play them isn't fair to our kids either.

I trust that each and every EMAW will join hands in their own respective prayer circles on this most joyous of holidays to pray that none of our athletes, alumni, or t-shirt fans get shanked by the smelly, losery poor people from South Canada.

Don't schools that recruit criminals in an attempt to win at all costs generally win more?
When Nebraska had felons running all over campus at least they won a lot of conference titles.

Yeah, but our kicker is the one raping chicks, so we can't really take full advantage of the thuggery.
Pretty sad state of affairs, we have criminals in all the wrong positions.

And your all American O-lineman but agreed. Put the rapey ones at QB or on the D-line.

I'd prefer DB/WR/RB, but to each his own.
I guess Fitz Toussaint got a DUI once, that's about the extent of that.
I think our best DE (Frank Clark) stole an X-box or something over the summer, so there's hope.

Michigan will win by 7+, book it.
Bump.
Timmyhawk probably will use the backup QB as an excuse, but it had been known for sometime that Gardner may not play. In case you were not watching Tim. Kstate lead 31-6 late and won by 17.

Congrats, guys! Sorry we couldn't even put up a fight to make it interesting, we suck. :Crybaby:

No worries, MISG. Michigan seemed to have a lot of underclassmen playing. It will get better.
