Title: Let's talk MNC and Conference Champs
Post by: Pete on December 01, 2013, 09:36:54 AM

Looks like OSU and FSU are in if they win their conference championship games.

No undefeated team from a power conference has ever been shut out of the BCS Championship Game for a team with a loss.

Auburn could AGAIN win the SEC and fail to go to the MNC game.  The last time in 2004 they finished 3rd behind undefeated USC and OU.

Or Mizzou could win the SEC and not get a crack at the MNC.  I think that would be a hoot, though I'll be rooting my ass off for Auburn to win.

Personally,  I just want to see the SEC shut out, and it would hurt the SEC's pride more if it were Auburn that was left out....they would just blame Mizzou if Mizzou was left out.

I will be rooting for Nick Marshall and Auburn to win the SEC championship as well, Pete.

I've one question for you. IF mizzou does win, what stance do we take on the Big 12 vs. SEC strength of conference argument?

Oh, and who are you guys rooting for next week?

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State and Texas at Baylor

I read that with a win, OSU gets the automatic BCS bid.  However, I am hoping for an OU win and a UT win.  HOOKEM #keepmacattexas.

Texas' loss to Ole Miss hurts us in this debate.  Though Ole Miss beat LSU too.

I think OSU will have their hands full with Mich St.  I am worried of this scenario:

FSU wins
OSU loses
MU wins

either Alabama or MU in championship game.  I hope Auburn beats MU.  Auburn seems to have been lucky quite a bit.  MU seems to have played no one.

I want a non-SEC title game.

Also, OU over OSU, Baylor over UT.  I'd then hope for a Auburn/Baylor match up in a BCS game.  And Alabama vs NIU or whatever scrub team won the Big East (UCF?)

I want the SEC out of the BCS Championship and want Auburn to stomp Mizzou.  I want the wind to be taken out of all the Mizzou fans in the KC area so the media can stop talking about their miraculous season.  I want to watch them get snubbed from a BCS bowl.....again.

SEC-less championship game is a victory for all other conferences.

Silver lining of a Mizzou win:  Maybe with Mizzou's new high profile they will be too good to steal Elijah Lee from us and go take some Texas stud instead.

my god.  it would be glorious.  the BCS takes Auburn (Fiesta?) and Alabama (Orange?).  Maybe they'd quit the SEC and go to the Big East.

I would call into 810 on every show and declare that the SEC should have fought for Mizzou but didn't.

That's what is great about this scenario.  If Mizzou loses, they will not go to a BCS bowl.

MSU beats OSU
Duke beats FSU
Auburn beats Mizzu

Auburn vs Bama champ game.

I hope Baylor beats UT and Okla St beats OU to give the B12 a chance to have 2 teams in the BCS. This also gives the Cats a chance to slide up to the BWW and play Nub...

I hope Mizzou gets mushed by Auburn and ends up in the Cotton Bowl...and then gets mushed by Oklahoma.

Miller vs Winston could be a fun title game. I'll root for that...

I just want OSU and FSU to win their conference championship games and then sit back and listen to the SEC whine about why they should have a team in the MNC over two undefeated teams.

I changed my mind.  I want osu to win over ou.  2 big 12 teams in the bcs with mu on the outside would be wonderful.

I like your Cotton Bowl outlook, would actually root for OU to stomp Mizzou.

UCF is in the Big East which has an auto-bid to the BCS. If UCF is the conf champ, they WILL be in the BCS somewhere.

My guess for what happens:

FSU beats Duke to remain #1
Ohio St loses to Mich St
Auburn beats Mizzou in the SEC game

BCS bowls:
Champ game: FSU vs Auburn
Rose Bowl: Mich St vs Stanford
Fiesta Bowl: Okla St vs Northern Illinois
Sugar Bowl: Bama vs UCF
Orange: Clemson vs Ohio St

If NIU happens to get beat in the MAC title game, then put Baylor in the Sugar and UCF in the Fiesta.

I don't want Baylor to have a share of the title, even if it means that we go to a lesser bowl.

BCS predictos - Fairly similar to Cybertooth but I have Ohio St beating MSU and Baylor in over Clemson (2 losses and ACC kinds sucks).

NC: FSU v Ohio St
Fiesta: Oklahoma St v NIU
Rose: MSU v Stanford (Pac 12 winner)
Orange: Alabama v Baylor
Sugar: Auburn/Mizzou v UCF

Kind of a garbage BCS line up

Do less, this is a bit extreme... You should root for whatever gets the Cats in the BWW bowl. Besides we stand a much better chance of actually beating a Big 10 team than any PAC-12 team we'd play in the Holiday

Hook'em and poke'em.  Texas jumps a bunch of people to get to top 16 and and at large bid.  Is there any scenario in which the pokes taint crush Oklahoma enough to jump Alabama in the BCS? I would like to see FSU lose to duke OSU lose to MSU and auburn lose to MU.

This would work too, don't care if it's Bayor or UT in the BCS as long as two Big 12 teams go,and third place heads to the Cotton.

Why would you want Mizzou in the national championship?

I don't I want Oklahoma State, but I guess that Mizzzou would probably get in though.

no, eff baylor. bowl wins don't matter. the only things that do are the extra practice time and the money.

Louisville beat Florida. Florida St pounded NIU last year. The Utah comparison is invalid because Utah was good and had beaten other good teams that year.
