Title: Random Thought re: calming the waters
Post by: WildcatNation on November 11, 2013, 11:09:15 AM
I was thinking while watching the Baylor/OU game, what would you guys think about Phil Bennett being the next wildcat head coach? Seems like he is due witht he job he has done at Baylor.  He also coached here for ~5 or so years including 2003 Big 12 season and it seems like him and Snyder are close. Best case scenario I think.

I think there is close to a 0% chance he would willingly spend any length of time in Manhattan.  jmo

Speaking of head coaches, at what point do we start thanking Fitz for steering Patterson away from K-State? Probably would not take at this point.

I think we have to get a coordinator hungry to build a name for himself,  old guys with previous success just don't have the fire.  Someone like kliff, Scott frost, etc.

Or a HC from DIAA. They would have HC experience, finding DITRs, and would still need to make a name for themselves. However, I know that for every Tressel, there's some dud nobody has ever heard of. Prolly no more of a gamble than whoever else we get though.

I would have a footballgasm if Scott Frost was ever HC of the Cats.  It would be  :emawkid: on just about every level.

Still run the ball all the time, but with Oregon-type tempo. Plus, "hey, Nike do with us what you will." Hollywood studness to match a guy like Kliff, but with that all-american look and feel that tucks would eat up. <-- important.  I don't really care about Nebraska, but they would probably melt down as well.

Everything would be glorious.

Wouldn't mind Frost or Wolford. I like that Wolford has head coaching experience, but it's obviously not at this level. Frost has coordinator experience at a very good football program. So, which type of experience is better guys?

No, he was not here at that time.  He coached here 3 years (1999, 2000, 2001) and left to take the SMU job before the Insight Bowl was even played.  I think I remember a shot of him watching that game from the stands, in fact.  Bielema was the DC in 2003.

Wasnt Frost just a grad assistant here for just a year? Why would he come here if he had other options?

I'm pretty sure Bennet would never live in Manhattan again after what happened to his wife.

He's gotta be doing this on purpose, right?

Frost and LHCBS are close and have a lot of respect for eachother. Frost speaks well of his time here.
