:Wha:

8-0

I feel like this thread has been started a few times already just with a differently worded thread title.
-
based on some stats i read earlier, i would guess it would be the same record as it is now.

Your ZACKalysis fails to account for the following:
a) Sams having extra "practice" in games would allow him to make fewer mistakes. Point Sams.
b) Even the mistakes Sams has made don't count anyway because there were various extenuating circumstances that caused them. Point Sams.

Ya, people need to get over it.

8-0
-
Majority doesn't mean much. We are 7-1 or 8-0 if he gets them all.
-
We wouldn't have even punted yet. The only reason we've ever punted on a Sams-led drive to date is because he's had to come in cold to relieve the disgusting ineffectiveness of that other quarterback.
-
What would our record be if neither Sams nor Waters had taken any snaps to this point (Joe Hubener all day all night)? I would say either 3-5 or 4-4.
-
Good thread.
-
5-3
-
Maybe 6-2 with a more experienced Sams running the show against Baylor.

What I don't understand are how people are overlooking the fact that Sams has been in the program 3 years, while this is Waters' 1st. I sure hope that Sams outplays Waters. Granted we move the ball better with Sams, the fact that he hasn't outright won the QB race is slightly concerning.

Have heard this pt. Valid but ignores that Sams wasn't a full time QB in HS and has necessarily taken a couple years to learn the developmental aspects of being a full-time QB at a Big 12 school.

Some guys are just gamers, man.

I think that we just got spoiled from having CK as a quarterback the last 2 years. I just want wins and whoever that may be, Sams, Waters, or both, I will take that.
-
I ran this scenario through a very complex formula and we would be 6-2
-
6-2
Waters served up the game on a plate to north Dakota, and then the butt fumble

agreed 100%. also it's sams.

The stats aren't even close. Sams has been far better at moving the ball down the field and getting points than Waters has. He hasn't won the QB race in Bill's eyes, but you can't take a step back and look at the numbers and say that he shouldn't be playing every down.

bill has been in the program for 87 years and has been a dumbass when it comes to not playing the superior player who would give us a better chance to win for all of those years and yet he still can't quit being a dumbass about it. he's good at other stuff, tho.

Maybe a better question might be, what would our record be if when Waters played they let him play to his strengths, and when Sams played they let him throw the ball more and quit trying to run with him in the manner they have against 8 and 9 man fronts (with hours of film viewing going to back to last year with the recipe for blowing up our QB running game on it).

that question is boring, tho

The system used with Waters has been fairly successful, even the running game. I only really have two issues when looking at how he's been used; a) speed option is a terrible play for him to run and b) if anything he (or the backs) perhaps should be running more, especially on 1st/2nd down. Part of the problem he's had with 3 and outs when he's in is that he's asked to throw more often on 1st down, which sets up 2nd and long which never has been a great down/distance for Snyder (or any team). When Waters is off (which he goes through funks of being off, especially on quick throws toward the sidelines), that usually leads to 3rd and 10 and a punt.
I agree that Sams has to be allowed to throw more, but I think the passing game they have for him is far more limited than for Waters. Even on his two late picks against OSU and Baylor, he had pretty simply 2 level route reads (short and intermediate). Against OSU he made the incorrect read and threw the deep ball into double coverage, against Baylor it was more like the fortunate completion to Thompson last week; he got flushed from the pocket and tried to make a play and threw a bad ball. Generally when he takes the shorter routes to the sidelines he's in pretty good shape and completes them at a very high level. The deep ball he threw to Thompson last week was the same route that Waters missed in the 1st quarter, and then underthrew (but Thompson caught) on the drive previous to the Sams' throw.

solution for your guy waters: don't airmail receivers on first down :surprised:

Good idea.
-
Since North Dakota State (who some argue could be a top 25 FBS team this year) and Baylor remain undefeated and, and the same question could be said of how much OSU and UT have improved since making their adjustments as well, would it have really mattered? Sams playing more had not bearing on K-State giving at least 2 victories away based on uncharacteristially playing undisciplined football. I doubt they would have won with Klein making those type of mistakes.

also: pay even the slightest bit of attention to rushing defenders.

Absolutely nobody could argue that.

someone could argue that on the losing side of an argument
-
anyone could argue anything you guys, jeez.

I guess so, but I don't see anybody trying to argue that Iowa State is the best team in the Big 12, which would be equally as ridiculous as arguing that NDSU is one of the 25 best college football teams in America.

Try googling that and get back with us.

welp, looks like over 50% of the most intelligent message board community on the internet thinks we would be 6-2 with our guy at the helm. oh well. who the hell are all of you to question LHC Bill Snyder, etc.

There would be more division if you had 7-1 and 8-0 as options. Maybe you should say "looks like over 50% of the most intelligent message board community on the internet things we would be at least 6-2..."

Kind of irrelevant and sorry if Luke'd, but I guess our guy had to take 2 classes this summer so that he could become eligible for the fall (he did not have a good spring semester I guess). Maybe that has something to do with what led up to getting Waters here. Source A+.

Waters knew what was good for him. Playing for Pedo state was not one of those things.
