Title: Gems from the Iowa State Game Thread
Post by: DQ12 on November 02, 2013, 09:39:54 PM
Here's another installment of Chico's classic thread series.  This week, I headed over to Cyclone Fanatic and read 1270 posts on 85 pages so you don't have to!

These threads are usually way more fun when the opposing fanbase has at least a scintilla of hope, but these poor bastards, they knew they were dead meat before the game started.

Pregame:
Quote
This may be the least excited I have seen this board before a game.
Quote
Is it bad that I'm just hoping for five or less 3 and outs?
Quote
I'm tired of losing by one play/possession to KSU. Shake the monkey on our back today!!!
Quote
I actually have a good feeling for the first time in a while. Feel like we're in for some fun for a change.
Quote
I'm hoping for a win. Sick of losing to k st by less than 7 pts every year. K st is definitely my least favorite team in the b12.

FIRST QUARTER:
After two first downs on the opening drive:
Quote
I have a good feeling. i think their D sucks.
Quote
Waters is a white guy...hmmm didn't know that.

Quote
I'm tired of these announcers
Idiot
Quote
Waters is ridiculously quick.
:Chirp:
After the first score
Quote
This football season has been like a face plant into a pile of used needles
(http://How is KSU allowed to play music during our play?) luv these
Quote
I really didn't think it was possible for the defense to get that much worse in just a year.
they were 7th in the league in defense last year
Quote
We're gonna score a lot today, but we'll need our D to do something. Anything.
Nope.
Quote
anyone else feel like they are watching this on the Kansas State football network, not fox sports? I know they have a better record than us but sheesh..
Quote
Can we rent the Ames High fball team to finish the season? No one is pulling their weight on this team.
Quote
Well everyone always says the K-State game is our Superbowl.
this one is great.
Quote
We might lose to Kansas. I'm not kidding. Their run game is decent and our run defense.....not so much.
Quote
Woody should never se the field again. He has to be been (sic) awful on all short yardage situations
This is surprising.  Last year, these idiots were worshipping this skinhead dork.  There really is a lot of unrest/calling for SLTH Rhoads' head.
Quote
Thank God Waters occasionally throws terrible passes.
ha. touche.
Quote
Thank goodness Kstate has decided to be stubborn with the pass, they have been running the ball like they were on rails but go away from it.
BILL  :shakesfist:

SECOND QUARTER:
Quote
We haven't even seen Daniel Sams yet. That is scary to me
As well it should be.
Quote
Kansas State's campus is a pile...
:curse:
Quote
I wonder if LHC Bill Snyder knows what Daniel sams would do to us
Quote
For all the terribleness, it's a 10 point game. Unless we get totally out-adusted at half, this is still winnable.

Quote
I think we win this game.
Quote
Hey Rhoads we are 1-6, our freshman kicker is not going to make a 50 yarder just effing go for it.
That really was a pathetic fg attempt.

HALFTIME IS HERE:
Quote
This is probably what I hate most about this year: this game is over and it isn't even halftime. There is no way we score 17 points to even match what they have now, much less hold them from scoring and score again...
Quote
Snyder will never lose to us again.
Quote
On the bright side, I think we are only 2 years away from winning 5-6 games again. Yipee!!!!
this guy gets it.  i feel bad for this cyclone fan.
Quote
Rhoads gets outcoached every year against K-State. Snyder is a genius.

THIRD QUARTER:
Quote
Yep. KSU could hand off the ball to one of our defenders, and we would promptly kick it out of bounds.
After the ISU guy let the punt go and it rolled for 25 more yards:
Quote
WE ARE IOWA STATE.
Quote
K-State smells a shutout. I think they'll get it.
Gosh dangit.
Quote
I hope they run up the score on us
sorry cyclone bro.  we're going to take a knee on the 1 yard line. #class

FOURTH QUARTER:
Quote
Not getting tickets this year is the best thing that's every happened to me in my entire life.

Better than having kids, getting married, catching an 11-pound walleye...you name it. With the accomplishments of my life, I'm happiest with the decision to not get season tickets.
After TT's touchdown:
Quote
It's a tough year when Broom can't even get the PI done right.
Quote
They gave up 10 points quickly in a horrible way. They then out played KSU for the entire 2nd and 3rd quarter while our offense did absolutely nothing. What's with the obsession of blaming the O and D equally when we clearly have a complete lack of offense for the ENTIRE game, not just one or two quarters.
For being "outplayed" Kansas State still managed to outscore the Clones 10-0 during those quarters.
Quote
we dont deserve this touchdown
you broke my heart, #roseshow.  you broke my heart.
Quote
I'm freaking sick of people calling KSU/ISU a rivalry. They ******* dominate us every year since 2007

And you don't lose to rivals by 34 points
Quote
Snyder proving he is a better man than Rhoads. Who the F calls a timeout, down 35 with under 2 to play?
Quote
Thanks Bill for the knee. Not sure any other coach in the conference would show mercy.
Quote
LHC Bill Snyder is class. Great coach.

POSTGAME
Quote
Snyder pulling the Frank Martin. Saying how good our crap coach is.
In defense of Rhoads (this is pathetic, btw.  Rhoads gets 2 million dollars a year):
Quote
What GOOD coach is going to stay here? We hired a fired defensive coordinator from Auburn (Rhoads), he did well here for 4 years and a moronic section of the phase base wants him fired for a bad year. Oh, and we will pay you the least amount of money in the conference. I'm sure lots of quality coaches are lining up for this job.

That's all folks!

i saw several ISU fans wearing those red/yellow overalls that i thought some jokester wore once ironically in a game that made it on TV... someone tell me these are alot of crafty ISU engineering majors making these for halloween as a joke and its not the case that theres some 'clones closet somewhere charging people cash money to buy these awful pieces of crap?

Also Havs is much too attractive for isu.

Talked at length with a clone fan in the lot.  He acted dumbfounded that people think Rhoads isn't getting job done.  Like, he acted as if its not even possible that people are questioning him.  I tried to get him to tell me why.  He acted like this season isn't that bad and it's mostly because they are very young.

Flyover state humility is the best kind of humility.   :Carl:

a bunch of ISU fans were tailgating near the CatCan™ closest to my tailgate.  like standing super close to it for some reason.  went over there to get in line to use the CatCan™ and this weird ISU dude apparently thought I was joining their tailgate.  he started talking to me about Rhoads and ISU and our tailgating vs their tailgating, and I just sort of awkwardly said things like, "yeah, sure," etc.  then the guy who was in the CatCan™ came out and I just said, "well, I'm gonna go pee now," and left.  god he was weird, I wish they would just leave.

He also told me Rhoads has beaten a ranked team every season. I said "so"?

He replied "it's not like we are Alabama"

I almost feel bad for the ISU fans, they have such low expectations and can't meet them
When Hoiberg leaves for the NBA, it will be so beautiful having Roads and Doc as the "faces" of ISU

The "we are rebuilding" talking point is my favorite.  "We just had a Liberty Bowl loss to Tulsa last season.  We were due for a down year.  What more do you want out of CPR?"

They had all these years to pull themselves up past Baylor and Ku in the Big 12 and they didn't do it.

I don't feel sorry for them and I wish they would get fined or  something for their lousy athletic department effort.

Havs, i wanted to do a streetview tour of your campus, to see this wonderful place myself and compare it to K-State but it looks like Google hasn't gotten around to driving through your university... too much standing water for the Google cars?

Don't worry, the road in front of my grandma's farm didn't have streetview for a long time and she was always super bummed about it.  But then like two years ago guess what happened!?!?!   :Woohoo:  Thats right, county road 37th had its moment in the sun!

I'm sure Iowa State university can't be too much further down the list. In the meantime, you can enjoy:

I thought ISU had a pretty nice campus.  though, I haven't been there since 2001.  I was reminder Saturday of how beautiful our campus is, though.

i've actually taken little daris geocaching all over kstate campus a couple of different times in the past month. like a fine wine that campus is. just beautiful.

not really sure about iowa state because i didn't pay that close of attention but it did seem spread out, barren and kind of cementy compared to ours.

Have you ever found like weird fetish pron or a turd or maybe a used condom in one of the geocaches?  It seems to me like that would be a strong possibility.  Lot of weirdos out there.  Do they have people that go around and check those for that kind of sabotage?  If not, they should.  I shudder to imagine how many awful things you've encountered in your hunting.  Not a recreation for the faint of heart is my guess.

Are you telling me there aren't teenagers out there pooping in these things or filling them up with spent condoms, because I'm certain you're not telling me that.  RD keeps it raw in his parenting.  "Today we found what appears to be an old piece of cat poop and a wrinkled-up picture of midgets having sex. Good find kids!"

No way it's referred to as Campustown!  No rough ridin' way!

It  made me mad when they called our campus a pile of crap  :curse:
Our campus is literally head and shoulders better than theirs. Not to mention all the new stuff we are building

I watched that whole game and apparently I missed another refereeing controversy. I know this will come as a surprise but it coincided with a loss for our flood aggie friends.

Early on a line backer clocked a crossing receiver and was called for unnecessary roughness.

Set the tone and made Iowa st afraid to play hard the rest of the way

Do they think you are allowed to take out the downfield receivers like it's NFL Blitz?
