Title: should we all pool our money
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on November 01, 2013, 02:01:30 PM
and bet it on that new mexico/san diego state game? chump and snowbrag are both in love with it. we could all put in like twenty dollars and then when we win we can start talking about another game next week to put some of the money on. it would be fun and really bring us together as a family you guys.

thoughts?

yeah it would be awesome, obviously. i mean probably somebody should just check and make sure the new mexico football team did not all die in a plane crash or their offensive line has mono or something. snowbrag is never that far off from the spreads

Hey if you don't like the idea then don't open/post in the thread.  Simple.  If you do like the idea but the execution is lacking then I welcome your input.  I just gotta get my teeth into some rough ridin' bison, fast.

Assuming we split the winnings equally, how are our winnings any different than if we bet on it separately? And I'd prefer mocat to explain the math to me.
Title: Re: should we all pool our money
Post by: AppleJack on November 01, 2013, 04:29:58 PM
I think the short answer is the winnings would not be split evenly. this is ricks brain child and he needs to be rewarded accordingly, say 25%. i'll put myself in charge of watching the game and keeping this thread updated, i need a 25% cut. the rest of you scumbags can decide how to split whats leftover, minus the juice.

SNOWBRAG says:

LSU 16
Alabama 45

Alabama always plays with a stick up their butt when they play LSU, though. I think we can set the models aside for this one.

Title: Re: should we all pool our money
Post by: mocat on November 04, 2013, 02:37:24 PM
That's the only slam dunk right now. The next possibility:

SMU @ Cincinnati (-9.5) (SNOWBRAG says Cincinnati by 20)

Other ones I feel good about:

Houston covering +11 on the road @ UCF

Baylor covering -14.5 at home vs OU

Wisconsin covering -7.5 at home vs BYU

I feel better about this one than Alabama over LSU. I mean the game is in Waco on a Thursday night and the tarp is coming off ! ! ! everything points to a Baylor Bears blowout of a crappy OU team.

2013 LSU is not the LSU of the last few years tho

They aren't, but it's still Nick Saban's old school, with Les Miles coaching. I think Alabama wins, and it won't be as close as the score indicates, but I think the score ends up being close. Baylor, on the other hand, has the best running game and best passing game in the conference, facing a team that has trouble stopping either, at home, on a Thursday night. They also have an excellent defense and are going up against a guy who calls himself "The Belldozer".

good news-
1)we started doing this.
2)i bet the initial $500 on a can't miss sdsu game against either new mexico or new mexico st. i'm still not sure which.
3)we hit for the second week in a row in the bama game.

bad news-
1)i didn't bet all the $950. only bet the $450 winnings from the first week.
2)i didn't bet on the ou/baylor game like was suggested.

so where are we at???-
1)well, we started off with $500 and now, two weeks later, we have $1,377.50.
2)we have a few more weeks to add to this.

In a classic C-USA battle for the ages, Florida International (1-8) is getting 6 points at UTEP (1-8). Let me tell you something here. UTEP is going to absolutely wipe the floor with FIU. This is going to be a 15-point beatdown.

U PICK UTEP AND THEN U TIP MOCAT! FIU 18, UTEP 33

not all the lines are in yet, and obviously they can change, but early returns are showing a few possible candidates but not necessarily any huge slam dunks:

Navy at San Jose State (-2.5)
SNOWBRAG: Navy 32, San Jose State 27

Cincinnati at Houston (-3.5)
SNOWBRAG: Cincinnati 22, Houston 33

Other possibles:

Missouri (-3.5) Mississippi
SNOWBRAG: Missouri 36, Mississippi 25

Western Kentucky (-4) at Texas State
SNOWBRAG: Western Kentucky 23, Texas State 26

The largest difference between a prediction and the line is actually Florida State (-56) hosting Idaho.
SNOWBRAG is kicking out a 70-6 victory but i would never recommend betting a farm on a team to cover a 56 point spread

well the only team to even remotely stop GT this year was VT (#3 defense in the snowbrag system). Georgia is the #73 defense. These numbers include offensive SOS.

The question with GT this year is their defense (#64)

I need some football games to bet in Vegas starting tomorrow.  Let's get a list of 3 or so.

Also anyone fired up basketball?

I will be watching this from an executive suite in the Orleans Arena:

Besides chanting Big 12 rejects at the Tigers any action I should be in on?

well obviously KK, start with UGA at GT

i think another one i might throw a few bucks at is Tennessee at Kentucky.
Tennessee is favored by 4. Both are garbage teams with virtually the same schedule and results. I like the cats at home.

Tennessee 23
Kentucky 26

others:

Fresno State (-9) at San Jose State
SNOWBRAG:
Fresno State 45

well GT was up 20-0 and blew the game in 2OT. sorry friends.

This week there are a lot of interesting matchups, so let's see what we've got here:

Texas at Baylor (-13.5)

Baylor has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde this season, depending on if they play at home or on the road. However #1: even their shitty road performances are pretty good. However #2: This game will be played at home. Last game ever in their giant dumpster stadium. Senior night. Longshot national title hopes still alive. Predicto: Baylor goes absolutely buck wild on an inconsistent Texas team who has gotten blown out by every better team it has faced (except OU).

SNOWBRAG:

Texas 24
Baylor 48

------

Louisville (-3.5) at Cincinnati
Don't be fooled by the two teams' similar records. Louisville only has a 3-point loss to UCF (whose only loss was by 3 points to South Carolina), whereas Cincinnati got blown out by the fighting Breads 45-17, and inexplicably lost to garbage-y South Florida. However #1: They are on a roll, winning 6 in a row, including a road victory over Houston last week. However #2: Cincinnati has not played a great team all season. They have played the #2 easiest schedule in all of FBS (the only team with a weaker schedule played 7, count em SEVEN, FCS teams this season). They will not be able to score on Louisville. The cardinal(s?) should mop up the bearcats and lock up the AAC during their pit-stop season in the conference, and I think my predicto is actually a bit conservative:

SNOWBRAG:

Louisville 26
Cincinnati 16

------

Utah State vs Fresno State (-4)

Fresno was exposed last week as a total fraud. If you refer to the SNOWBRAG thread this week you will notice they are by far the luckiest team in FBS this year. Utah State has the #4 ranked defense and should be able to score enough on Fresno's garbage defense (gave up 62 points last week) to knock off the Bulldogs and take the Mountain West.

SNOWBRAG:

Utah State 31
Fresno State 26
