Title: goEMAW organic grocery and livestock auction thread
Post by: Emo EMAW on November 01, 2013, 01:01:33 PM
Anyone want to go in with me and buy a bison?

http://www.kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/KDWPT-Info/News/Weekly-News/10-31-13/PUBLIC-BUFFALO-AUCTION-NOV.-20

I can provide funds and a pickup to haul said bison.  Can locate a butcher.  Would like to retain rights to the hide.  Split the meat up.  BTW, bison tastes really good.

Haven't really considered the details.  I'm open to suggestion.  I just know I can't eat a whole bison by myself.

Look, no offense, but you don't rough ridin' half-ass the purchase a buffalo.

if I'm involved in this purchase we aren't shooting it anywhere (other than with our iphone cameras when we take tons of pictures of her and post them to facebook in our new folder titled "welcome to the family Buttercup the Buffalo!)

Here's what I know:

- get some investors
- agree on what we want
- buy the rough rider
- someone provides a trailer and I haul it away
- sd takes his pictures and we can let kids ride on it
- then we take it to the butcher
- he cuts it up and we divy the meat
- enjoy delicious, organic, sustainable meat with our families

FWIW..I know some people who raise bison just west of Wichita.  I have bought quite a bit from them and it is really good stuff.  PM me if you want their info.

My bro-in-law has a herd of 25 (ish). Has had them for probably 15 years or so. It is great to go riding out amongst them in his Mule. Buffaloes are really big. Good hamburgers. Not organic.

More like welcome to the Butcher Shop Buttercup, amirite Emo? :Carl:

I might have worked out at Konza when I was at KSU, and I might have taken several rolls of bison summer sausage out of the freezer at the shop over my years there.

Your family had the weirdest financial stories I've ever heard of. Let me guess this uncle is your dad's bro?
