TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Football => Topic started by: Cartierfor3 on October 12, 2013, 06:37:03 PM

1. Hubert ran well
2. We got pressure on the QB
3. Good special teams play! (I like the high kickoffs)
4. Took advantage of mistakes
5. Our O-Line protected better than they have all year, including UMass
6. Sams ran well (ok like amazingly well)
7. MUELLER
That's just a short list of things I liked. Listen, the season is crap. A win would've been really fun, but whatever. I'm ok with this season being about the process over results at this point. We've improved every week in my opinion and were able to withstand adversity. Our D really did play well. 35 is probably Baylor's low number for the year.
#TeamMoralVictory
-
only 1 bad throw! :D
-
Sams still took the most snaps (even if he doesn't know how to win games yet)
Waters didn't turn it over
Mueller!
Toe caught some passes
The O-line played pretty damn well
We controlled the effing clock!
-
Got a turnover on D, may have found a serviceable return man in Johnson.
-
Improvement! 2014 will be much better!
-

good additions!
-
That Mueller play! WOW.
Our run D was better than expected.
-
It clearly all on next year. If we struggle next year like this year then Bill has to step away from the game.
-
Feels like 2001 to me. This team just isn't making enough plays, we've had 4th quarter leads in 3 of our losses. I think they can recover and get to 6-6, maybe 7-5.

This brings me back to the "luck" arguments of 2011. I wonder if the people who said it was all coaching that year will blame the coaching this year? Or is it all bad luck now?

Exactly. This team isn't much different, that team just won every close game.
-
3 incredible players is the difference.

I tend to agree. This year is on the wrong side of the knife (I hope).
-
I was encouraged! Sams is really good and will only get better. 199 yards rushing is a lot! Hubes ran well. D looked better than they have and Mueller is obviously an enormous stud. Punter had some nice kicks.
-
I think we were extremely lucky in 2011 and in the flip side of things this year. I don't think the coaching is significantly different this year other than playing the wrong qb for a few games.
-
Today made me feel ok.
-

I think if we had played the correct QB from day one, some of our close losses would have been easy wins, so we are more stupid than unlucky.

Probably one game, maybe 2.
-
This game depressed me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all TSC for you guys, and KSU actually made it a game. That's why I'm all :frown: though. It just shows how garbage the Mountaineers are this year.
Anyway... :emawkid:
PS. Dlew, I'll PM you my address, you send me a shoe to eat. The cats kept 'em under 48.
-
This might have been the best team on our schedule. Everyone we play is beatable (also capable of beating us tho.)
-
I was encouraged by this: Sams 6.6ypc, Hubert 6.0ypc, Baylor 3.1ypc.

Yes!

2-4
-
I thought we played really, really well. I don't understand why it is so hard for some people to fathom that a young team made some mistakes and lost to a considerably better team.

Totally. The highstepping!

I may be completely wrong, but I think CK rubbed off a lot on Sams. Klein was probably the most patient runner I've ever seen and Sams is also very patient for someone that can just take off at any second. Sitting behind Klein for a couple years was probably one of the best things we could have hoped for with Sams. I don't think his in-between tackle run game would be what it is without Klein running for two years in front of him.

Agreed

I was happy about a lot of things that have been fixed. But the most fantastic of penalties again. 15 yarder on Evens TD, holding on Gronk on 2nd 2 when we get a first, turned into a 3rd and long, which turned into a missed field goal....but super excited about everything. Effing moral victories

Would not be a surprise to see us go 6-0 the rest of the way...did you guys see Daniel fake that one long haired dude out of and then back into his shoes on that one play
-
i was encouraged, because my expectations were very low.
-
I was afraid that this team might give up, but after their play today and after reading the quotes, I have been strongly encouraged by their strong mentality, I think the team as a whole has really taken on the following goals well:
Goal #4: Improve. Everyday...as a player, person, and student.
Goal #10: Never give up.
Goal #11: Don't accept losing. If you do so one time, it will be easy to do so for the rest of your life.
Goal #13: Expect to win. And truly believe we will.

Bryce Petty
On being a starting quarterback…
“It has been a journey, and one that God has played a huge role in. That is why I am so happy right now. I have waited four years for this. I have waited four years to be a part of this family and contribute. As a backup quarterback, you cannot contribute that much and it can kind of weigh on you a little bit. That is why it is a team game, and you have got to love it.”
We just got out god squaded. Losing Klein hurts.

(like #tebow'ing)

I liked parts of our defense; especially the front line and middle linebackers. Also really enjoyed Sams as QB of our team and liked that the coaches limited the plays that Waters did. Waters ran better too. :ksu:
-
Yeah when they started praying on our field I was looking for my Slayer t-shirt.
-
I was encouraged by this: Sams 6.6ypc, Hubert 6.0ypc, Baylor 3.1ypc.
I mean, you look at those numbers alone and know that Sams and Hubert combined for 45 carries and there really shouldn't be any way to lose.
And then you look at Baylor's 15.8 YPA.
Oh. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.
Damnit.

Douchebag fan got scolded by his daughter for being a douchebag. Morals victory

Girl in the student section giving baylor the finger and telling them to eff off was pretty uplifting to know anger is still present in the student body.

They are a good bunch of kids. :ksu:

I was impressed with your kids effort and with the quality of your O Line and D Line... Obviously your guys played very well and you got Baylor's C game.... Congratulations on a very fine effort... There are still many games left that you will win... See you next year in best College Football only stadium in the Country...

Lol. Yeah, I'm sure they were just completely overlooking their first road game against the defending Big 12 champs because they have ISU next week. Bring some better game, you rough ridin' dumbass.

Yes! It beat best track and college football simultaneous stadium

Carl Miles Jr. played well, and hopefully the coaches saw that and will bench Dorian. Also, everything else that was stated in this thread. We return a ton on offense and defense next year, and we're getting better as this year goes on. I'm really excited guys.

I thought a packed stadium was pretty impressive after all we've been through. I mean seriously, this fanbase is legit!

Over 100% of capacity again.

We run the table
-
We run the table
I think it goes without saying, but if we play that well the rest of the season we'll go either 6-0 or 5-1 in the 2nd half of the season.
- Baylor isn't exactly Bama, but our OL was dominant for most of the game.
- Our schedule eases up...Our toughest 3 B12 games are behind us.
- Even though things haven't gone well it looks like everyone still gives an eff.
- We should get TLBL and TT back by the next game.
- Emerging All Big 12 Defensive End Ryan Mueller
I'm sure someone will start a Coal Aggie thread soon, but WV may be in for a 2009 A&M-like beating in 2 weeks.

The offensive line was fantastic, though I need to rewatch to confirm. Some nice wrinkles in our run game as well.

YES! Thought the OL played much better.

how much is the offense going to be hurting next year without stud blocker running back hubert?

Yes. When we just line up and run they seemed to do well. My perception is that they widened their splits a little.
What was glaring is how shitty Gronk and every other H-back/Fullback is at blocking. They are just god rough ridin' awful. Same with the TE's.

Yes, I think Gronk and McDonald are getting better, but not near where Wilson and Tannahill were last year.

Gronk's holding on 2nd & 2 was one of the biggest plays of the game. Completely killed that drive. Good form tackle, tho.

Sams got most of the snaps two games in a row.
every time waters is in the game I just can't bring myself to give a crap what happens. sams is such a better fit and every snap waters takes is one less snap sams gets to gain experience for the next 2 years. as long as waters continues to take significant snaps, this entire season can go eff itself.
-
I thought Gronk played pretty dreadfully yesterday. The hold was the cherry on top of an otherwise horrible blocking performance on that drive by the Gronkman. If we're going to utilize a fullback/hback, then he needs to block better than gronk did yesterday.

That replay was not very flattering for him. So I decided he sucked.

Lets keep it encouraging fellas.
-
Oh, but I was encouraged. Best offense since 1930 and we hold the ball for 40 minutes, cut their average in half, and are a few unforced errors away from winning. Agree that it feels 2001y for than 2004y.
And my god our guy Daniel is such a treat and also his mom retweeted my offer to donate him a shoulder, so that was a personal highlight for this guy.

Baylor typically plays bad on the road. I watched some of the game and they looked like they were just going through the motions.

tim obviously has no clue how hard it is to go undefeated in football, you dont just "go through the motions".

ha, 2007 KU was 11-0 going in against meth U. and KU had a few games of going through the motions
-
WHY IS THIS BB TARD ON A FOOTBALL BOARD?
-
The defense being at least average in the big 12 is a miracle.
-
1. The defense forced five turnovers
2. Jacorey Shepherd's pick six
3. Jimmay Mundine's 27-yard TD scamper

LOL at Adidas....

Shitbird fans on our board with BB pics? Dumbass comments? Color this board tolerant.
FWIW, it was good to have Waters available and ready to play with the number of snaps/hits that #LIFE took.
-
I was encouraged. Losing again was horrid, but both as a stand-alone and in context of the season Saturday was a positive in a lot of ways. I'm now convinced that this team will go bowling, I was convinced otherwise after the Texas game. Oklahoma State was a surprised. Baylor went about as I thought it would, with the end being a toss-up.
The group that makes up a majority of players on this team are going to win a lot of football games in their time at KSU.
-
The super superman thing SAMs is doing now is pretty damn awesome
-
Ever since we had the walkout thread for relief pitchers, I still think about Cheap Trick playing "I WANT YOU TO WANT ME" (Live version) every time Sams runs out onto the field. It was encouraging that I still thought about that when I watched the game.
Could somebody make a video of Sams doing all sorts of Sams things with that as the background music? Maybe Snyder loves Cheap Trick and this could sway him.
