Title: UTSA
Post by: Brock Landers on October 11, 2013, 01:10:38 PM
Apparently stands for University of Texas Scaredy Asses

Last week, UT-San Antonio formally notified us that it intended to cancel the game scheduled in Manhattan on September 27, 2014. Although the contract will require UTSA to pay a cancellation fee of $500,000 (which will be offset if we elect to cancel the return game to UTSA in 2015), the more significant issue, given this late date, is the scarcity of available opponents for our third non-conference game in 2014.

2014 Football Schedule Update
Earlier this week, the Big 12 Conference announced the league portion of the 2014 football schedule, and I want to take a few moments to update you on our full schedule. As you know, we have been looking for a third non-conference game to replace UTSA. After several weeks of thorough research and many phone calls around the country, we have secured a FBS opponent for our third non-conference home game! It was very important to us to find a home game as 2014 will be a year in which we play five league road games. In the next week or so be on the lookout for a full schedule release as we work to finalize the complete slate. In the meantime, click here to view the full conference-only schedule for all Big 12 teams. We are excited to host Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas and KU in 2014!

Lower level team because A) We are K-State and B) anyone in anything resembling a BCS conference probably had their schedule close to filled.

Bottom 25 by USA Today - Crossed out the unlikely (Major conference, Armed Services, Team we played this year)

101. Air Force (1-6, 0-5)
102. New Mexico (2-4, 0-2)
103. Purdue (1-5, 0-2) – DOWN 8
104. Kent State (2-5, 1-3)
105. Kentucky (1-5, 0-3) – DOWN 8
106. Kansas (2-3, 0-2)

107. Florida Atlantic (2-5, 1-2)
108. Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-1)
109. Colorado (2-3, 0-3) – DOWN 9
110. Memphis (1-4, 0-2)
111. UAB (2-4, 1-1)
112. Akron (1-6, 0-3)
113. Connecticut (0-5, 0-1) – DOWN 5
114. UTEP (1-5, 0-3)
115. Hawaii (0-6, 0-4)
116. Idaho (1-6, 0-0)
117. Eastern Michigan (1-5, 0-2)
118. Florida International (1-5, 1-1)
119. Temple (0-6, 0-3)
120. Massachusetts (1-5, 1-1)

121. Western Michigan (0-7, 0-3)
122. Southern Mississippi (0-5, 0-1)
123. New Mexico State (0-6, 0-0)
124. Miami (Ohio) (0-6, 0-2) – DOWN 3
125. Georgia State (0-6, 0-1)

I put the favorites at LaTech, FIU, FAU - We played them a few times before, would probably be easier to set up on short notice.

I don't care how bad they are, Appy St. is a DO NOT WANT for me. You don't want a program that has the confidence to beat a program of our stature even if their team is down this year.

Temple or Southern Miss should be our first choices for an easy win. USM is especially a dumpster fire right now.
