12 penalties and 5 turnovers in the second half is just effing absurd. And completely unacceptable coming off of a bye week, with two weeks to prepare.
If the offensive personel cannot run the damn "check with me" system without resulting in 8 false starts and delays, then it needs to be simplified.
-
Nothing creates offensive efficency like 8 false start penalties and a "check with me" system that's scrambling just to get the ball snapped before the play clock runs out. But that's "Snyder's system" and that's just the way it's always has been, and will always be. No changes allowed here, just keep trying to jam that square peg into the round hole.
-
The "this is the system" rationale is correct. When you look at any K-State season under Snyder with indecision at the quarterback position, this is exactly what happens. 01, 04, 05, 09, 10, or even 89-92. The check with me is new to his 2nd stint, but the overall expectation for changing plays at the LOS and grasping "the offense" is the same. The consistent factor with offensive struggles over the years is when there isn't one guy who is clearly the quarterback for this team. This season is already a mess because of it; by the end of this season a decision must be made and that staff must go with it so next year we don't have the same problem.
-
I just can't imagine anyting about the QB situation changing next year.

IMO one of them will win the spot before next season, and more than likely based on Snyder's past and what we saw yesterday that will be Sams. Of course, before the game I thought Waters was likely to take over, but when you add in how Sams played combined with the injury situation at receiver (plus both are SRs), the true dual threat QB makes more sense.
-
Didn't Sams pretty much seal the deal as the full-time QB? Give the offense a chance to get used to his cadence, and a lot of the problems that resulted in penalties will go away.

this. sadly. it took the USC game in 02 for Ell to be "the guy". That was the 4th game of that season. Both guys suck enough to warrant "starting" in the eyes of bill.

this is the hope, btw:
In '01, Ell was 54-136 (39.7%) for 855yd, 4TD, 8INT, 6.3ypa
In '02, Ell was 91-175 (52%) for 1580, 7TD, 4INT, 9.0ypa
In '03, Ell was 152-294 (51.7%) for 2545, 24TD, 12INT, 8.7ypa

Used to his Cadence? What? He's not a band director, he uses the same snap count as everyone else. Those penalties lie squarely on the O-line's back.

We just need an nfl running back to run the option with.

sams is a much better thrower than ell was his sophomore year, especially in the short to intermediate area.

K-State currently averages more turnovers per game than any other K-State team in the last 20 years.
