I had a good friend who was a performer for the faire and did it for a couple of years.  Said it was fun to raz people with the Old English speak.  We haven't been friends since.  Made me question a lot about myself as well..   :whistle1: (ftp://:whistle1:)

KC's is solid.

Had a blast.  Did the queens's tea, hit up the jousting show, knocked back a load of Guinness, brats, fried cheese and pickles, great times.

Love the throngs of chicks dressed like mid evil whores or whatever....a great family event!

If you ever find yourself in KC in the fall, I will take you.  What else do we have to do on the weekend in the fall (anymore) ????

I gave it a run!

I almost went with the Turkey leg...but the kids think they are gross (their stupid ketchup covered fries are really what's gross!!!!!  STUPID KIDS!)

If you are a true badass veteran, you have a wooden mug that you carry around with you and have refilled with booze.  I think that they give those pro's a bigger draft pour, but I can't prove it.  I do not have one.  They cost a bunch.  I just drink out of the plastic cups like a stupid tourist nobody.

So many chicks show up dressed like midevil whores, it's remarkable.  Like whore versions of gypsies, fairies, pirates,  etc...   It's like Halloween (which I also obviously love the crap out of).

Went to RenFest a few times when I was a kid.  always a great time.

went back once as an adult a few years ago.  Learned that a lot of the merchants travel across the country doing various festivals year round.

There I am drinking beer (ale) and eating a turkey leg (of course).  Tought it'd be cool to wear a puffy shirt instead of my t-shirt.  So, stop in a few booths and find that these rough ridin' shirts were +$100.  apparently, quite the custom textile.  Don't but it, even though I'm basically rich.  I strike up a conversation with the dude in the shop.  Of course, he remains in character throughout the conversation.  I ask him what his job is, assuming the guy probably lives in De Soto and hauls in his wares every weekend.  As it turns out, the guy says this is his full time gig, selling this crap.  He, said that it was lucrative enough to buy him a Ford F-350 and a trailer.  (have no idea how much either of these are, but he seemed pretty proud of it).

He also said that some of the TX renfests are basically 2, 3x bigger than the kc renfest and there are adult only renfests where people are nude and they serve more alcohol and the fests don't close til like 2 or 3am.

Anyway, there's a whole other world of renfesters just like Pete.

Lords exist outside of that time period and location.  Nothing more lordly than having a big piece of meat attached to a leg bone in your hand while you walk around wearing your finery and of course a bejeweled goblet full of delicious wine in the other hand.  Low lord iq there by you sys.

I'm going to eat the crap of a turkey leg this weekend.   Also if anyone else is thinking of going, this is by far the best weekend to go.  Every week has a theme and this weekends theme is the best theme yet.Shamrocks and Shenanigans! Look at all the great things I'm going to get to do.  Obviously I'm going to win the arm wrestling contest and the press a wench contest.  I can't wait, I've already picked out what tank top I'm going to wear.  Then finally I'm going to finish the day off with the craft beer and wine tasting and a second turkey leg.  I'm going to have way more fun than Pete did, I can feel it.

It's that time of year again.  I am going to DVR the game Saturday and head out there and enjoy some 70 degree weather and watch people fly their freak flags.

I am really looking forward to getting a Scotch Egg.  There are very few places around here where you can get them.  I am usually not a big turkey leg guy, but I just might do it this year.

My son always wants me to buy him some sort of weapon early in the day, so he can walk around the rest of the time like a boss. Typically a wooden sword and wooden shield.  I am going to try and steer him toward the toy crossbows this year.

i think its safe to say that the weapons pre-obama administration are going to be much cooler (read: dangerous) and post-obama.

1993 would have been a good year to go. i bet that sword is worth $5,000 right now on the ren fest black market.

Sometimes I get fired up and include pics, like my former muse, the Straight Talk thread.

I will post a in depth picture blog in this thread about the weapons vendors at Renfest KC.  That way, when you dudes roll out there this year, you know exactly where and what you are after.  Also, probably a few pics of Scotch Eggs and Turkey Legs (that rhymes!)

one thing that i've noticed is that DJamer's always put DJamer in front of their name in case someone doesn't realize that they're the DJamer.

it should be cool enough that you can walk around in wool costumes and drink mulled alcoholic beverages and stuff like that.

How does the Renfest in wichita compare to the Kansas City one?  I remember going to the one in KC in high school, and it was always a blast. My son would get a kick out of it, but don't want to go to Wichita if it's just going to be half assed.
