Title: Cross it off the bucket list
Post by: 420seriouscat69 on September 19, 2013, 09:13:39 AM
As I enter the gates of Darren K Royal on Saturday, I will mark history (for myself). While being in attendance, this will mark the last school of the original Big 12 (plus TCU) that I have attended as a roadie. At the age of 29, will take! I'm super excited for this personal endeavor you guys. You might not be a fan of the fan man, but if you're a fan of sports, that's pretty cool.

Rank the best stadiums/experiences WC08
 Oh, ok.

1. A&M- I mean all the pre game stuff is really elite and stadium experience is dope.
2. Oklahoma- It's like being at a college version of Arrowhead. Minus almost getting blown up by a suicide bomber, it was worth it to walk the streets with a beer.
3. Nebraska- game day experience is pretty crazy. Dumbass fans, dumbass bar closing times (1am), but you can't beat the stadium galore.
4. Colorado- They suck, but you're in the mountains and around really good beer. Minus the dope heads, it's pretty cool.
5. Oklahoma St.- Hello Manhattan clone. Stadium is right and tight. Literally! The brick is close to the field.
6. Mizzou- I mean, Corby Jones was my bartender that night. 'Nough said.
7. Iowa St- Best media food in the Big 12. They serve bison Burgers. I also stole some bar stools the night before the game and almost got hauled off to jail.
8. Texas Tech- they have Buddy Holly st. And that rough ridin' bell!
9. Baylor- dry county, two bars , bible thumpers, etc. :dubious:

PS-KU is not included. We all have are own opinions on that dumpster fire and have experienced it ourselves.

The more that I think about it, I might have listed OU a little too high. Norman is awful, and Callahan really hit the nail on the head regarding their fans. Gameday there is sort of how I picture a gathering of the juggalos, only with no makeup.

I like going to games in Lawrence. My favorite part is when the squawk fans leave after the first quarter and Cat fans takeover the student section.

The only time I went was the week after Ron beat Texas in 2006. It wasn't that much fun. Lawrence is a nice college town, though. All Big 12 destinations can be a ton of fun.

Being in Lawrence for the '04 L was one of the worst experiences of my life.

My mom has gone with her friends to Lubbock like two or three times.  It is really weird.  I would never go as it is in the middle of nowhere.

Lubbock isn't all that bad. It's about like Norman, only the fans are better.

I've smoked (pot) a handful of times in my life (I'm not good on it) and got pulled over riding in the back of a K-State vehicle on our way out of Lubbock. Probably the scariest moment of my life. It was exactly like Super Troopers. I was freaking out......MAN!

So there must be something fun to do in Lubbock right?  I mean why would your mom go there more than once?  Is it true they have to carry around a damp cloth in case a dust storm blows through?

I think it is "rustic" and has unironic cowboy boot shops and stuff so it feels like visiting the old west.  Not my bag.

Yea I was unimpressed with Stillwater when I went there for the bball game in February.  The only places you could dine and watch a game was Fuzzy Tacos, Eskimo Joes, or BWW's.  All the other bars did not serve food.
