I've got three. One of them I am happy with. Two of them I got in college and I regret. I can't decide if I want to pay $2000 to get them removed or $200 to get them covered up. I'd set up a poll but I don't know how to, so please post your vote below and I will keep tally.
-
i would shell out the $200 to get them covered up but only if that is the start of a full-body tattoo project
-
I would never get one but I don't care if others do. That said a lot of tattoos look really stupid.
-
Cover it. If that looks stupid, remove. That said, more info would help. Where are they and are they both of forklifts?

Post pics of all three and let us try to figure out the two ugly ones.

I'm hemmy on this one. Also, fats with tattoos, c'mon. You have a disgusting body, you cannot decorate it. Just makes it look worse.
-
I have one and wouldn't mind getting one or two more but it has to be a cool design and something that's really meaningful to me.
-
I have a weird recurring dream where I look in the mirror and think about how stupid my tattoos are.
I don't have any tattoos in awake time.
-
I'll post pics tomorrow and then mods can decide if they want to move to shame yourself thread. The one I'm happy with is a tribute to my daughters. It starts on the inside of my bicep and wraps around my arm. Actually thinking about adding to it. The two I'm not so happy with I got my freshman year at K-State. One is frattoo and the other is a Grateful Dead tattoo. Imagine having to explain to your daughters that daddy was a pot/acid/shroom/etc head before he had you. Also, did I mention the two tattoos I'm considering for removal are on my ankle.
I've been thinking about this for a while, do I cover up or remove? I can afford to have them removed but I'm not against tattoos so it's really a matter of do I want ankle tattoos or not.
-
Problematic ankle tats? Wear socks forever and save the money.

Illinois state champion here. Fifth, fourth and first place (unintentional fanningbrag). I'll be coaching competitive swimming once my oldest daughter realizes dance it stupid. I can't do that in socks. :frown:
-
Turn one into a pak head and the other into The Ed.

Didn't know that. Excellent point. Suggestion withdrawn.
-
Turn both in to ankle bands of intertwined harbor porpoises
-
Turn one into a pak head and the other into The Ed.
Pak head would actually work because the Grateful Dead tattoo is purple as you'll see tomorrow when I post the pictures, but not quite what I'm looking for.

I'm sorry, did I give you any indication that I have a vagina?

Don't bother with the pics, no longer interested.
-
had a dream i got the pak head tatted on my back
-
look like crap. and in the abstract, i assume that people with tats are trash. oth, i have a lot of friends with huge, weird, disgusting tats. i just try to pretend they don't.
-
tats aren't my bag, but trim 3:16 away
-

Turn the dream into reality.

Are your tattoos on the same ankle or different ankles?

$200.00 to the fatty fund if Trim gets a pak head or The Ed tattoo, you know I'm good for it. People's choice, vote now.
-

Both on the right ankle.
-
Is your grateful dead tattoo a skull, or is it just text that says "The Grateful Dead"?
-

Dancing bear as you will see tomorrow. Actually was a great in with girls back in 94 before everyone had tattoos.

Meh, I turned out fine. My potential future kid(s) will too.
-
I have a lot of tattoos. The guy I go to is great at cover-ups and I could get you his info if that's the route you decide to take.
-
Am I the only one who has ever heard of water socks?

here's a thought lopakman- if you did something in your youth that you are embarassed by as an adult/father, then instead of running from it or covering it up, why not own it and use it as a teachable moment for your daughters. but hey, maybe that just makes too much sense. maybe you should fork over their college tuition to turn a silly ankle tatoo into something "cooler".
-
don't listen to daris, get yourself some harbor porpoises.
-
I'd love to have a whole sleeve but only for like 5 years or so.
-

and theirin lies the problem with these "tatoos". that "cool" arm tatoo of creed lead singer scott stapp in 1997, isn't so cool when you are at arrowhead jamming out to your new favorite "rock band" nickleback in 2011. "no man. that's cobain. the tatoo guy came highly recommended but just wasn't all that good. i'm thinking about dropping a few grand to have my new guy cover it up to look like bane from dark knight though. hey you think they'll play photograph?"
i mean seriously you guys.

:dubious: Hmm, wouldn't spending $2000 to get two tattoos removed be an example of both owning it and a teachable moment? "Hey kids, Daddy did something stupid in college and had to spend $2000 to fix it. Think about the consequences of your actions children, because they can come back to bite you." And don't worry about my kids college tuition, the money won't come from their 529 IRA's.

hey man, if you want to teach your daughters that a little bit of money is all that is needed to cover up mistakes then by all means, go for it. i don't think there is a single "right way" to parent, so i'm sure your way could work too. choices have no permanent repurcussions/money fixes everything/etc.

Don't have any and don't care if anyone else does. I'm a live and let live sorta gal.
That said my cousin who is now 40 has the coolest tat in the world; Wiley E. Coyote on skis, his best friend designed and drew it for him. Its pretty cool and in a good place so it's not seen by many.

You do realize that both of my daughters have seen my tattoos right? I think you're reading way to much into the fact that I simply don't like these particular tattoos. It's okay, I'll put you down for #teamkeepthetattoos

no brah, he's had it for 20 years or so, and I'm just a bit younger...pointing out that the tat didn't get less cool as he aged.

i have two and plan on getting several more. some people shouldn't be allowed to, though. there are some really stupid tattoos out there.

they are trashy.

I like them, lopakman. Will probably get some in the future.

lopakdaughter "you're the best dad! let's go make her change it."
:Yuck:
darisson "dad i got a B instead of an A"
daris "oh. guess you should've done something differently if you wanted that A then, huh?"
darisson "yeah dad, you're right. i should've studied more. it's my fault and i take complete ownership. hey wanna go have a catch?"

This thread is far and away the most attention those tats will ever get. Just leave them unless you're going to change one into something gE.

It really is, isn't it.

I don't have any but have always had a few in mind I want to get. My issue is if I get one or two or three, I don't know if I would be able to stop getting them.
Also, $2000 just to get those removed :Wha:

I know right. It's about $100 per session per tattoo and takes 8-10 sessions for complete removal. It's supposed to be painful too. They use a laser to break down the pigment.
-
I like them, lopakman. Will probably get some in the future.
 Just make sure you get something you'll be happy with for the rest of your life, or you'll get the ole Rick Daris speech.

there's a frat bro in one of my classes that wears tanks everyday and he has a tat of happy flag carrying willie on his back/shoulder perfectly positioned so that you can see it in a tank.
maybe you can do that?

I have a tattoo of Anthony from 'Designing Women' syphoning gas from an ambulance. It covers most of my back and around to my chest/stomach. I regret it.
-
I have no tattoos. I can't think of anything that I like enough.
I have a good friend who does Ironman's (you run a rough ridin' marathon, then ride like a hundred plus miles on a bike, and swim a couple miles), and he has a tat of the Ironman "M" logo thing. That's pretty cool. That really means something, and symbolizes a huge accomplishment.
I also know some marines who have served in combat and have tattoos. I am not a "military" type guy, but if you have served in combat and got a tattoo to commemorate it, then you earned it bro. I'm not man enough to object.

I have four. Love all of them a lot. I could go on and on about my hatred for some people and their tattoos, but that is not specific to tattoos just people in general.

It was a really popular tattoo in the early 90's. It's all faded now so it looks like crap but man, at the time
-
Yeah, it was a panty dropper
-
So, I have debated about getting 1 or more for over 8 years, currently do not have any. My biggest issue is I think that once I get one, I will have a full sleeve on both arms fully covered in a years time, then 2 years later my back and chest etc will be covered. Is there anyway to prevent this, or just hope for the best?!
-
Check the price on how much it is to get a full sleeve. I'd estimate $2000 per arm if you go to a good artist, which I assume you'd want to do since 1. you're not a dumbass and 2. it will be on a very visible part of your body. If that doesn't deter you from wanting to complete it in the next couple of years then yeah, you'll probably end up doing it.
-
Next time you see someone you know with sleeves, look closer at them and see what the individual tats are that make them up. Sleeves are usually very Monet'ey, imo.

As you can imagine I'm taking the news of our beloved Meshach's passing pretty rough this morning. I will watch Mannequin Two: On the Move in his honor. Please refer to me as Hollywood Montrose for the foreseeable future.

I'm not a huge tattoo fan but have considered some over the years, but I think sleeves typically look bad because the reason you said. Not enough negative space it seems. From ten feet, they usually look like the person duped their arm in dark green/blue dye. That doesn't look good imo.

This probably belongs in the Facebook posts thread, but guy from my home town, who did NOT graduate from KU (or go to college, IIRC) got this doozy:
